Re: Where can I put a new graphics card in my computer???
First I want to mention that the Dimension 2400 is not really a pc that's made for playing games. There is no AGP or PCI-express slot on the motherboard, so you'll have to use the (slower) PCI slot. How to put your card in your computer is explained on this page of the Dell support website. If you need help with finding a card, just ask me.
- If you need clarification, ask it in the comment box above.

Ya it sounds like your video Card is dying, though you can check with different RAM and try some normal games which don't need high Graphic. You have PCI Graphic card fitted on it then try removing and playing the game, then this way you can know what is the fault.
First off I gotta say,bad computer case to work with(Not much room). If you plan on gaming and putting your graphics on high on every game then you might want to consider a new case cause good graphics cards wont fit but I have found some that do and they play every game til this day but I have to adjust some of the settings.I chose the EVGA GeForce GTS 450, and the EVGA GEFORCE GTX 260 hense I have two of this hellions! Both graphics cards I would say are about even now that I am running 8GB(4x2GB RAM),I just added 2 2GB ram sticks seeing as how you can only run 8GB on this motherboard and it already comes with 2 2GB ram sticks not sure of the brand they use but they work with the low profile ram sticks located here ---->http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231253 <----The cool part is they will replace them if they ever stop working for whatever reason! If I were you I would get these pair on the link I showed you and either of those graphics cards and I guarantee you wont feel let down, trust me,I was just gonna start all over with all new stuff before I realized that for like $50-150 I could have reliable computing, networking etc. plus Great gaming quality with the new DirectX11 pc games of today!NewEgg.com also has hand on videos you can watch that will show/teach you how to do it all your self!I hope this helps, good luck! -CB
Try reinstalling the drivers from AMD. If that doesn't help the problem, use a program like GPU-Z to monitor the temperature of the graphics card. If a graphics card overheats, it will shut the computer down giving a blue screen. If it ends up it is overheating, try taking the side of the computer while you're playing a game or installing another fan.
sorry, but shader model is basically something used by your graphics card (hardware) , meaning you'll need a new graphics card installed on your computer if you wish to play high end games. There is a way to bypass the use of a shader model by emulating a graphics card but depending on your pc speed and memory you may not reach the requirements of the game to play it.
Here is a link for the emulator that also comes with the instruction set on how to use it. http://crystalunicorn.wordpress.com/2008/08/30/3d-analyze-virtual-graphics-emulator/
Also to know exactly what your missing in a game you want to play; you can use this link to see what games you can play, and what needs more of something else. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/
It uses an activex which needs to be installed to check your pc; and don't worry its harmless to your system.
Graphics cards are of many companies. For my opinion, Ge-force and N-vidia graphics cards are best. 512 mb graphics cards are well for playing games. As your need of gaming, buy high capacity graphics card as 1 gb or 2 gb.
im afraid not cause the technician telling you to buy a new video card so that it will run and play on the settings that you want and you will be able to play the game. may i know what video card are using on your computer?
