Hi

Replace the battery in the remote, as it may have worn out. If this problem still occurs and remote doesn't work. You will need to contact the dealer or factory to reprogram the remote, as this is a security function that only they can handle.

If your alarm goes off at will ,open and close the doors. If it keeps going off and you've opened and closed doors, latched the trunk and hood, and otherwise secured your vehicle, then there could be a defect with the system. Take your car to your dealer or factory which installed the alarm for diagnosis and remedy of the problem.

I have a 2004 Nissan Merano and sometimes when I turn my alarm off and go to start it, it will not start and the red car with the key on it flashes please help!!!

Well, ill assume that since you have an l.e.d. your alarm is aftermarket. My guess is your alarm is in "passive arming mode". That means its arming. Itself. Some alarm dont fully arm in that mode, usually just the starter kill and led engages. That mode (sometimes happens) and can be changed via your remote. Hope that helps.

Car does not arm or disarm when door opened alarm goes off

Hi, I love the viper. Mine worked flawlessly for many years until one time my unit would not arm or disarm. Obviously 1st I checked batteries which were good. I took mine to installer and they said I had a remote go bad. He got me new remote and that was it. Sometimes I wonder if somehow I managed to hit a factory reset sequence on my remote. Considering your also having an issue with door contacts as well, I would hope it's not the main unit. My system also had a special override switch in the footwell, if you have one, perhaps you may have switched accidentally. Hope this helps in troubleshooting.

Can't disarm even with toggle switch

ususally this happens when the alarm dosent read the door being open, if the alarm dosent read that the door is open you should be grounding out the door trigger (green wire in most alarms) and repeat steps to deactivate the alarm

What is the valet button located inside of glove compartment used for

It is used for programing the alarm, it is used to disarm the alarm without the remote, [in case remote is damaged] and it is used to put alarm system into valet mode, [service mode] valet mode is only really needed if the alarm has been programed for passive arming, [alarm arms itself].

Your main use for the valet switch, [if programed for active arming instead of passive arming] is to have a way to disarm the alarm if the remote does not work.

"Factory Alarm keeps going off" No matter how many

There is a good probability that you have the PRESTIGE alarm. There is a hidden microswitch somewhere around the left kicker panel. It is also called the "valet" switch. It will disarm the alarm, but still allow the remote to unlock the doors.

My 2001 tahoe alarm keeps "auto" arming itself after about 30 seconds. How do I stop it from "auto" arming? Its driving me crazy

this alarm works with the remote and the key, if you lock with the key it arms if you lock with remote it arms, when you unlock it it should disarm, if your having a problem with it not working try the pass/side lock with key, that should shut it down but if it keeps rearming without locking doors then it may be aftermarket, also in your manualy it will show you that some factory alarms are also self arming this is programed through the cluster, using the buttons on the dash, you scroll through the options and shut off auto arming, this is done the same way you scroll for mileage or trip time or oil change life. hope this helps.

How doyou disarm the factory alarm system in a 1994 jeep grand cherokee my alarm system keeps shutting down the whole car it is a real pain to get it started again i just want to totally shut the alarm...

The security alarm system on the 1994 Jeep Cherokee arms itself on any normal exit from the vehicle, i.e. ignition off, open door, lock door with power door locks, close door. If the doors are locked with the key, it does not arm.
If the battery is disconnected, then reconnected, the alarm system will go into powerup alarm mode. The lights will flash, but the horn will not blow.
The alarms can be disarmed by a keyless vehicle remote or by unlocking either of the front doors or the read lift gate with the key. If the key method does not work with any of those three entrances, there is a problem either with the input to the alarm module or the module itself.
There is a switch in both front doors and the tailgate which is activated by manualy unlocking those doors. The alarms can be disabled by permanently grounding the wire going from either of those switches to the alarm module, but this will remove all theft protection.
The best thing to do is to find out why the system is going off in the first place. It could just be a glitch, a loose connection that can be fixed fairly easily and keep your theft protection intact.

I cant disarm my alarm

Get inside the car, turn the key to the on position, the alarm is going to sound so do not panic when the alarm sounds press the valet button one time and the alarm should stop. To place the alarm in valet mode cycle the key with the door open on then off then press the valet button one time and the alarm should go into valet mode meaning the alarm light will be on steady.
