You need to check the jumper settings on the device you added. There is an IRQ conflict.

The easiest setting is "CS" Cable Select

Check the back of the drive where you plug everything in...you'll see a legend somewhere on the drive.

Image on monitor is stretched


if you have recently added the moniter to your pc then go to microsoft windows updates and run the custom updates and under hardware on the right there should be a download drive stating the name of your moniter and download it,,,unless you have not set the resolution in the control panel after pressing start and go to moniter display to adjust the slider to the right setting,good luck

shine a flashlight on the screen. if you see a faint image, its the backlight thats the problem and you will need to get a new one to fix that. But if you dont see a faint image you will need to hook it up to an external monitor( an monitor that is not made into the laptop) , and if you see an image on the monitor you will have to clear the CMOS.
and to do that you will need to take out the battery, the plug, and hold down the ON button for about 30-60 seconds. Well thats how you clear it on most laptops. But if it does'nt work on the external monitor you probally have a bad video chip and need to replace your old one.

Follow these steps in the order presented to resolve the issue.

Step one: Verify that the Digital Imaging Monitor is ready

The Digital Imaging Monitor must be running in order for the Scan To function to work. The Digital Imaging Monitor icon normally appears in the system tray at the lower-right corner of the computer screen, and the monitor is ready when a check mark appears on the icon after Startup is complete.

If the Digital Imaging Monitor is in the system tray, proceed to Step two.

If the Digital Imaging Monitor does not appear in the system tray, follow these steps.
Windows 98, Me, and XP

1.Click Start , and then click Run .
2.In the Open text box, type msconfig .
3.Click OK .
4.In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
5.Search the list for HP Digital Imaging Monitor .
6.If HP Digital Imaging Monitor is not on the list, the driver was not correctly installed or a custom install was used. 7.Proceed to step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.
8.Select the HP Digital Imaging Monitor check box.
9.Click Apply , and then click Close .
10.Click Yes to restart.

Windows Vista

1.Click Start .
2.In the Start Search text box, type msconfig and press Enter .
3.On the User Account Control window, click Continue . The System Configuration Utility window displays.
4.Click the Startup tab.

15.Scan a document using the Scan To button on the front panel.

Are they both about the same age? Also have you recently added a device that is sitting near the monitors such a an external hard drive, printer, new speakers or power cord or cable next to or against the monitor cable? I sounds like EMI to me, shield the cable or plug of the offending devices into another outlet away from the monitors to test that theory, or having them on a separate surge protector should eliminate the noise you are reporting. Some go as far as adding UPS with line filtering (or conditioning) for the devices - you see it with home theater setups when the TV, computer, games and stereo are all plugged in the same outlets on the same home circuit.

When I hit scan it says "no scan options"

I am trying to scan a pic and my scaner says no scan options

Blurred monitor image to black only..


There is an issue with the screen as you say that the sound is coming from the system.I would suggest to contact the manufacturer and get the screen replaced.
