If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed LG and all other monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

My LG Flatron L1750S has just glowing white screen and no on screen setup menu either.

Hello,

That is a common symptom of a failure of the filter capacitors on the power supply board. When the filter capacitors go out the backlight can get power so there is light but the control board is not powered up so you get no picture. You can rebuild the board and bring the unit back to full working condition by replacing the defective parts. Here is a link to information showing what capacitors you will need to get to do the rebuild.

LG Flatron L177WSB-how would I use my newly purchased unit after switching it on, LG logo appears followed by the Power Saving Mode it all goes black on the screen.

Hi, the Power Saving Mode, turns the screen off to conserve energy. On the remote, press Menu, and scan to Power Saving Mode. You can change the amount of time, when the Screen turn-off, the TV shut-off etc. You can set the time to (5 min) to, (never, turn-off). This should help with your problem. Thanks paul7of9

My LG Flatron L1750S when powered on blinks and then goes out. I have switched over to two other machines (pc's) and the problem follows. Please help me I can afford to buy another monitor right now....

melrosebanjo, Your monitor will need to have some work done on it's "switch-mode-power-supply" and /or "INVERTER" circuit. After you view some vids at YOUTUBE that deal with replacing bad electrolytic filter capacitors and detecting poor quality intermittant solder joints. Search for vids of "LCD monitor repair" "LCD monitor disassembly" !! Learn what are the major causes of LCD BLACK screen problems. Learn the difference between BLACK AND BLANK screens. Read some of my other posts in my profile. then repost with additional comment here on fixya. also visit www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm. and www.lcdparts.com

Screen flashes only for a split-second (as a second display for an iMac)

The inverter is faulty. If your Monitor is powered by a mains'kettle' type lead, then it MAY be repairable, provided you can find someone to do it.If you have an external power supply, then the chances are you have a separate inverter, and it is doubtful whetther you can find the fault or a replacement circuit board....which is why we have become a throw away nation !!
