Question about Samsung Full Option Side-by-Side Refrigerator SR-S27FTA

1 Answer

Following a power outage, the appliance was switched off at the wall and switched back on after the power was restored. The screen on the front of the fridge is flashing "88 88" and "98 A8". None of the touch buttons are operative so compartment temperature control is not possible however temps in all compartments appear to be normal We've tried unplugging and leaving for 20 minutes. No help!

This is technical unit an they can be pretty touchy with power outages sometimes. It may be in a display mode. If you havent already try unplugging the unit for a minute or two and plug it back in. This doesnt reset its programming try holding Energy Saver Key + Lighting Key for 8 seconds and let the unit run thru a self diagnstic test and hopefully it will reset. If neither works its going to have the main board needs to be replaced.

I recently replaced my Intermatic EJ500 with a new unit, I noticed it works perfectly fine for one day then the batteries that control the timer drain completely the following day, what could it be?

Line voltage usually controls the timer functions when properly wired until a power outage occurs; then battery power takes over until utility power is restored. Should utility power be off for an extended period of time, eventually the battery will drain completely
Double check to make sure you wired your wall switch timer properly.
Make sure there are no loose wiring connections.
Even though you purchased a new replacement timer wall switch, it could be a manufacturer's defect.
Has your home electrical system experienced any signal spikes? Electronic components are very sensitive to impulse spikes/surges and can be damaged very easily.
If you are experiencing surges or spikes, perhaps investing in a whole house surge protection system (Intermatic IG series) would be the way to go as well. It'll protect all your electronic devices and appliances through-out the house.

Hitachi VT-FX540EUK. How can I correct error PL?

You need to talk to Hitachi support. Often times when power outages happen it is not due to regular reasons. In this these power outages either when removed or when coming back have large voltage surges that would not bother a light bulb but in some fancy electronics with switching power supplies they are damaged by these surges. Companies love to use switch power supplies as they are cheap to build but the fact is no one is giving you a 10 year warranty with them and they fail a lot not just in VCR but TV and even Radio Transmitters. They are complicated to troubleshoot unless you understand how they work. There are some stored 200 Vdc caps in the unit so they are NOT for amateurs to go poking around. They can be dangerous just like a Picture tube can store 20KV in it.

Had a power outage and tv was on when power came back on , heard a pop , now tv has no sound ?

If you have one of the newer flat screen TV sets; power the TV off and then unplug the set from the wall outlet for a couple of minutes and then plug the TV set back in and then power it back up. Lots of newer flat screens have a power supply system that will not reset properly after a voltage spike or a power outage that is a short duration. By unplugging from the wall outlet and letting the power supply drain all the way to a zero (0) setting it usually resets ok when you power it back up. good luck, Dennis

My LG front load washing machine, model WM3001HWA, has no power. What can I do?

Hello Kyle;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

You have 3 sensors in your unit, a thermal sensor, a position sensor and a door lock switch. These components will prevent you from running but, would not affect your power.

I assume you checked your circuit breaker to make sure you have power to your washing machine.

The slightest change in power supply, electrical power surge or power outage will knock out your boards. Magnetic fields and static electricity will knock out your boards. Are your appliances near a main power supply line in your home?

All appliance manufacturers recommend surge protectors if you have control boards in your appliance. Individual wall socket surge protectors cost about $20.00 at your local Home Depot or where ever. This is a good investment.

Ok, your have 3 control boards in your unit. One is the digital display board which has nothing to due with power supply.

The others are your main control board and your control panel board. Each of which can turn off power. The highest probability is the main control board. The part number for this board is EBR 44289820. The part cost $225.00 locally. You can probably get it for $180.00 if you search the internet. This is item A450 on the following link.

Remember static electricity can not out a board. Ground yourself by rubbing your hands over something that is steel. Either unplug your unit or turn the power off at your household fuse box. There are several clips holding the board in the casing. you must push outward to remove the board. Inspect the circuit back side for burn marks. If there are no burn marks you can still have a board component failure. DO NOT DISCONNECT ANY CONNECTOR PLUG IN. When you replace the board, you will replace one at a time.

WHY DOESNT THE TIMER SWITCH ON AFTER POWER IS SWITCHED OFF

What kind of timer, and what power has been switched off?
If this is a typical timer for lights and such, the light must be turned to the on position before you plug it into the timer. Certain lights and small appliances, particularly ones that use flourescent bulbs, may not work with traditional timers at all.
Is the timer itself off? Some timers have their own on/off switch, so that you can prevent the light from going on at all times, such as when you are home. If this is the case, both the timer and light must be on while plugged in, in order for the light to go on at the scheduled times.
Is the power to your house on? Or, have you had a recent power outage? Make sure your home has power, that the appropriate breakers are on, and that the outlet where the timer is plugged in does not have its own wall switch. If you must use an outlet on a wall switch, make sure that switch is on at all times. Tape it down if you have to. If that wall switch is mistakenly shut off, it acts like a whole-house power outage. The timer may automatically reset, or it may be put off schedule. You may need to reset the timer.
If you can be more specific about the problem, I may be able to give a clearer answer.

Power outage and fridge doesnt come back on when power is restored

First make sure there is power to the plug at the wall. If not check the breaker. If power at the plug, the power outage could have been associated with a power surge that killed your refrig.

I misplaced my instructions for my timer and need to re-set it after a power outage. Can you please send me the instructions? Thanks.

Question posted under Intermatic ST01C, but Timer is not 100% identified since ST01C is battery powered, and should not lose programming or stop working with ordinary power outage.
Most digital timers have a battery or capacitor back-up for power outage.
Add a comment with description of timer buttons, or open link below to see most brands of in-wall timer.

Open following link for to identify Intermatic ST01C and Ei600 and download instructions:
http://waterheatertimer.org/ST01C-program.html#battery
ST01C timer has a battery backup. Power outage will NOT cause battery-powered display to fail, but power outage and power surge can cause any electronic timer to fail.
So either the battery went dead, or power surge ruined timer, or you don't have ST01C timer.

If ST01c display is not showing, then replace battery and then reprogram current time -or- manually re-set timer and then reprogram timer.

Our front loading dryer is the HE 4 Elite and the screen says "Control Locked". How do we get this going again?

The Control Lock is a safety feature that enables the consumer to lock the control panel to prevent small children from manipulating the controls and accidentally starting the appliance. This can usually be reset and does not require a technician.

With the lock on, the control panel is disabled and you cannot use any of the controls, except the button to unlock it. It can inadvertently be set following a power outage, leaning against the control panel, or pressing and holding the wrong button. This is usually not an indication of a malfunction.

If this is a Whirlpool manufactured front loader, the following link explains how to lock/unlock this feature:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608801-control_panel_lock

These instructions are also printed on the front panel of the appliance and in the owner's manual.

If this does not correct your problem, then you may have a more serious problem than a simple operator control button issue (such as an operator console problem or main control board issue).

Please post back if you still need assistance. I hope this helps you.

Replace the adaptive defrost control part number 240375803. About $100.00.

It is located in the fresh food section on the top left side behind the plastic panel.
