Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I just purchased an 2.5" hard drive for my lap top and after removing the old hard drive, I noticed the pins in the hitachi are set differently than on my old hard drive. Old hard drive has two rolls of pins and the pins are exposed. It appears the Hitachi hard drive has 1 roll of pins and the pins are not exposed. How are you supposed to plug it in to the lap top. Or is there a cover on the new hard drive that has to be removed prior to installation? Help!

It may be in a hard drive holder so check the laptop manual or web site to see for yourself if its just a hard drive case with a regular drive inside
or it may be a newer SATA driv in that case you have the wrong type

I need to purchase a drive enclosure for a Hitachi hard drive. Model no. HTS541612J9SA00. I have bought 2 different models both were wrong. Help!

The drive you posted is a SATA I drive, that may be the reason the other enclosures did not work. Search for an enclosure that is SATA I compatible.

How do i convert my hard drive for my lap top they have different plug ins

Was your old hard drive a 44 pin IDE drive (PATA)? Then you need a 7 pin SATA to 44 pin IDE converter module. Unfortunately, I can't suggest any - most take up enough space that they can't be fit into a laptop case behind the hard drive. Some connect to the IDE cable; others connect to the IDE port on the motherboard. They are more useful for the small format desktop cases (home theater PC).

I wish that I could be of more help. 2.5" IDE drive are still available; this might be a more effective solution than finding an adapter that will fit inside the laptop.

It seems that your notebook does not have sata connection to Hard drive. Your harddrive is IDE connection. Sorry but you can't use SATA on this laptop.
