Question about Craftsman Garden

1 Answer

I just bought a used Craftsman 3.8 Briggs and Stratton Edger. It works great but leaks gas after I quit using it. It seems to come from underneath a round aluminum bowl. How would I look to fix this?

Probably missing seal to the carby bowl, undo the round bowl (watch out for petrol/drain tank first ) then check to make sure the bowel has a rubber seal . if not auto shop should be able tio locate one if you take the bowl in tp size it . or you can use a gasket sealer thats petrol proof

It could be the gas you are running in it, if it contains ethenol use some stabil in this type of gas. Ethenol attracts moisture and will cause the carbs. on small engines to gum up and get a fouled. I run 100% gas in everything. It may cost a little extra now but it will save you alot more in the long run!

it's still getting bad gas. take off air filter, prime with fresh gas, use an old spray can, and keep spraying while running until all old gas is used up in the carb

Craftsman Edger 536-797520 is leaking gas from the air filter

The needle valve is sticking open. The carb needs cleaning and diaphragm replaced. Probably best taken to a shop unless you have experience with diaphragm carburetors. Dwain
