Hi, my AV2 input on my Samsung PS42C91H stopped working. I cannot see the AV2 channel in the setup menu. Certain menu functions have also stopped. I cannot tune channels for example. When I try selecting the menu item it is skipped. Is there any way to restore the factory settings before I call out a technician?

Updating the Channel List Automatically You can update the channel list when the broadcaster adds new Services or if you move the TV to a new location.

1. Press the MENU button to display the menu. Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select "Digital Menu", then press the ENTER button.

2. Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select "Channel", then press the ENTER button.

3. Press the ENTER button again, to select "Country".

4. Select the appropriate country by pressing the ▲ or ▼ button. Press the ENTER button to confirm your choice. Even though you have changed the country setting in this menu, the country setting for Analogue TV is not changed. (Refer to page 11 of the user guide)

5. Press the ▲ or ▼ button again, to select "Auto Store". Press the ENTER button. When it has finished, the number of scanned services will be displayed. The existing favourite channel list will not be deleted when the channel list is updated. To stop the scan before it has finished, press the ENTER button with "STOP" selected.

6. Press the EXIT button to exit. If the signal status is poor, the "No Service found! Check the aerial connection" message is displayed. Check the aerial connection and the try the procedure again

SOURCE: need help

ensure the tv is in analogue mode, not dtv and turn it off. with the remote: press info then, menu, then mute then power. these buttons need to be pressed sequentially not all at the same time and in quick succession. a menu will appear on the tv. navigate to the reset option and press the left arrow key on the remote (or press the enter/ok button) the tv will reset itself and turn off. turn the tv back on & it'll re tune all its channels. DTV should be working again.

Where can i buy a new remote mine got water damaged

It depends on the TV (make/model). Do you have an Input or Source button on the TV? Then you can use that button to change your input. A few models will offer an alternative option to change the source from the menu and have a Menu button on the TV. (Some TVs only let you change the source from the remote.)

Some remotes are available from the manufacturer's parts store (Sony, for example). remotes.com has the exact original or a replacement remote for many brands. For other TVs, a universal remote may work. Look for a higher end universal remote with a Source or Input button. Then test all of the codes for your TV brand. (Some codes may only enable parts of the remote functions; make sure you find a code that lets this button work.) The remotes that can be programmed with a USB connection to a computer are the easiest to set up for this situation.

Please add a comment with the specific make and model of your TV; I'll try to find a source for an exact replacement remote.

(some really old TVs let you swap from AV1 to AV2 to channels by going up or down through all channels to reach a point where you could swap the inputs.)

I just set it up (it is used) and I can't get to the "Channel Manager" in the setup menu, as it is grayed out. I can't auto program because of my inability to access this menu function.

Hi,
Channel menu will be grayed out if tv is set on AV Input, select TV source by remote or press any channel number to set tv on tv source, this will enable channel manager/ menu to tune channels in tv.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks

Hi, i have a ps one i want to connect to my tv via the aerial. iv plugged it in and checked the av channels but cant find it, is there anything i need to do?

Hi, right now as your plugging it in via the aerial socket then this means you wont be using any of the input channels or source channels such as av ok.

now what you can try is when its plugged in and switched on go through the channels on the telly using the telly remote try channels you dont use such as 0 6 7 8 9 10 if after trying these you still have no picture then you need to put the telly on a channel you dont use say 0 then make sure ps is switched on with a game in then on telly remote choose menu or setup then you need to use the tv setup function to search the frequency as if you are tuning a channel in so do this till you see the game then store it onto that channel, now when ever you want to play the ps you just plug it in and put it on the channel you tuned in.

or an easier option would be to go to the well known auction site and buy a ps1 scart lead then when you plug this into your telly you just choose av1 or av2 and then you can play it without tuning the channel in so this owuld be the easiest way

let me know if you have any problems

What input or channel does my samsung plasma tv need to be on to play the nintendo wii

If you have the AV inputs, use them. Use AV1, not AV2.
(If you use the AV2 input, there might be action delay between the controllers and the Wii.)
If you don't, just select VIDEO 2.

When I try to set our TV to locate digital channels, the menu skips the channel selection when I scroll through options of picture, audio, channel, lock, setup. All the options are available.

It sounds like your TV is on a different input. If you watch your cable from an external cable box, and this box is plugged into your TV using wires that are yellow, red, and white, or red, blue, green, red and white, you're currently watching TV on a different input than the one used for the antenna. Channels in a TV are controlled by the tuner. The tuner is the silver, threaded, post on the back of a TV, DVR, converter box, or VCR, that you plug an antenna or cable wire to. The tuner contols channels while the other inputs on your TV carry a direct signal like a computer to a monitor. So when you use something other than coaxial cable to connect cable to your TV, you can't access the channel menu while on that input. To access that menu, change the TV's input or source to TV or stop when you see a channel number on the screen. You have to be on the TV or tuner input in order to access the channel menu. If you're on any other input such as, S-Video, AV1, AV2, component (Yp Br Cr), HDMI, etc. you will not be able to do a channel scan. You have to be on the right input or source.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please post a comment if you need additional assistance so that I can help you further.

Input Problem

Mine was the same, except i also could not access HD Components.
Unfortunately i had to get some one in, as the circuit board at the back of the tv was burnt out.You might have to get a technician in to service and replace the burnt circuit board.

Can't switch from AV2 to AV1 with Samsung DVD-VR375 DVD Recorder / VCR Combo

To be able to select AV1, you have to first go into the setup menu and set the control set top box setting to OFF. I think you go to the menu >> setup >> features >> set top box control >> select OFF. Note that this has the side effect of erasing any previously stored timer settings.

Samsung LE40R73BD DTV freezing, wont chnage channel

i've just some digging around and found that you can access a service menu and perform a reset which sorted the issue for me.

Access the service menu by pressing, in order, whilst the tv is in stand-by mode:

info
menu
mute
power

when the tv comes back on you will have a service menu; select option 12 (reset) the tv will then switch off.

this will reset your TV back to factory defaults.

turn tv back on and you should be prompted to go through the plug and play setup again - go through everything and then all should start working OK (it did for me)
