Windows 7 can be VERY particular about HOW you do things.

If your running the EXE file to install something right click on the file and choose Run as Administrator.

That usually solves problems like this.

Copying OS while having a smart failure problem

You need a copy of the Windows 7 installation CD. You maybe able to borrow one fro a friend or use a computer with Internet access to download Windows & from the Microsoft WEB site. You need the product installation code to install Windows 7 and this code is printed on the Windows label that is attached to the bottom of your laptop.

hi! you can't copy already installed OS, and then install it to other computer. if you would do that, you would copy system files only.

I have an aspire one ZG5 with windows 7 OS but an evaluation copy only!now i want to return my OS to windows XP but the erecovery software is no longer on my laptop!what is the best thing to do?

It appears that you have been using Windows 7 RC (release candidate)
When it was installed, you or whoever performed the installation deleted the recovery partition, from what I can tell.

So, either borrow a disc (OS that matches the one you had originally) and install it using your windows product key.

Or........ Go get Windows 7......that's my best advice, honestly.

I ran the RC and got lucky in October, when I was awarded a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. For most users, Home Premium or Professional (If you like the extra options like the full on backup features) will suffice. Most folks, nearly anyone, has no dire need for the Ultimate version.

I am a victim of software counterfeiting.my windows did not pass windows genuine validation.

This means that the version of Windows XP you are using is not a genuine copy.
This happens when you install a copy of Windows XP which does not match the serial key you used for installing.
Your Operating System (OS) has been blocked.
I advise you to immediately remove this copy of Windows XP by installing a genuine copy.
You can either buy a genuine copy or borrow a genuine copy from a friend and install.
You can use a copy which has already been installed on another pc and you will not have any problems as long as it is a genuine copy.

CANT GET WINDOWS XP PRO TO COPY FILES TO A GX280

The problem is the driver for the sata hard drive. You would need to get that from the dell site and put it on a floppy disk, then at the start of the windows install select to install that driver. I ended up just installing the rc version of windows 7 and it worked out fine.
