VERY EASY REPLACEMENT
REMOVE PHILIPS HEAD SCREWS THAT HOLDS THE PLASTIC WATER STRAINERS ON THE FOOTOF THE MOTOR,
NEXT LOOSEN THE HEX FITTINGS 7/16 OR 1/2 WRENCH SIZE THAT WERE COVERED BY THE STRAINERS
NEXT REMOVE THE 2 STAINLESS STEEL BOLTS THAT ATTACH THE FOOT TO THE LOWER UNIT.. BOLTS COME OUT FROM THE BOTTOM,, NEXT LOOSEN THE NUT ON THE FRONT OF THE FOOT FACING THE TRANSOM LEAVE A FEW THREADS TO HOLD THE FOOT SO IT DOSEN'T FALL. NEXT WIGGLE AND SHAKE THE FOOT
TO LOOSEN IT FROM THE LOWER UNIT . NEXT STEP REMOVE THE NUT WHILE HOLDING UP ON THE FOOT THEN SLOWLY REMOVE FOOT ASSEMBLY WITH DRIVE SHAFT.
NEXT REMOVE THE O RING FROM THE FITTING THEN REMOVE THE FITTING FROM THE SHIFT ROD THERE SHOULD BE A BIGGER O'RING ON THE SHIFT ROD NEXT TO THE WATER PUMP HOUSING . REMOVE BOLTS HOLDING WATER PUMP HOUSING ON THE FOOT ASSEMBLY LIFT OFF HOUSING LOOK FOR IMPELLER KEY TO FALL OUT . I RECOMMEND REPLACING IMPELLER AND HOUSING AS A KIT . INSTALL IN REVERSE ORDER .

My 1970 65 horse Johnson out bored having problems with it running in water but runs good with water hose what could it be

quite possible that your motor needs a water pump. hose flushers force water thru at full pressure where as the pump pushes water only what the pump forces thru

I have the Johnson Viking Power 16 Waste Pump installed. It says in the manual that it is fully self priming up to something like two or three meters. I have maybe a 70 cm difference between the shower and...

"Does not want to start again". As in the motor does not turn on or as in it doesn't pump the water out?

The lines from the tank to the pump have to be air tight or it will not be able to "draw" the water due to all the air getting in the line. From the pump to outlet, not quite as important except you really don't want water spraying everywhere so should be fairly tight and sealed.

If it is using a float switch to start the motor, make sure it is working properly.

Small amount of water now left in drain - it was never there prior to a replacment of pump that failed. Is this normal? White powedery residue has now appeared for the first time.

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

This is a common complaint following a drain pump change out, particularly when one has an older Bosch and installing the new style/revised outlet pumps.

If you still have your old pump or if you recall observing it, that design usually only had 4 vanes on the impeller to pump the water.

Since then however, Bosch has re-designed their drain pumps to allow them to be "quieter" hence they now have either a 6 or 9 vane ( depending on model ) on the pump impeller, so yes they are much quieter but as a result pump less water in the time allowed.

example...

...So to answer your question it likely is normal and should be of little consequence. but if you`d like you can still get the other style, you just need to know what to ask for but is quite often "special order". Part # 184178.

NOTE - If you live in the Northwest region of the states ( Especially Washington ) often installation for dishwashers include what is know as a "Johnson Tee" air gaps in the wall.
**Johnson Tees were designed for older dishwashers with 1/2” drain
tubing and work better with stronger 4-vane drain pumps (# 184178) instead of
the current quieter 6-vane pumps (# 167082). In homes with Johnson Tees, use
only 4-vane drain pumps (# 184178).**

Hope that helps, let me know if I can assist you further and good luck.

40 Hp Johnson outboard motors stalls out after a few minutes running then takes forever to start again

May likely be one of two problems:

1. Fuel flow: Make sure fuel tank vent is open and not blocked while engine running. Check primer bulb is working and no air leaks along hose anywhere. Check function of fuel pump and ensure fuel is getting to the cylinders.

2. Overheating: Check engine isn't overheating and that water pump is operating properly while engine is running.
