If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Samsung monitor blue flashing light, black screen

Hello,

The picture board of your monitor has developed fault. That is why the screen is black.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer within your vicinity, because the fault is not something you can fix in other not to complicate issues..

The repairer will help diagnose and replace the faulty picture board and your monitor is back and better.

Take care.

Power light and screen keeps flashing on and off. No picture just a black screen.

unplug from pc, turn on monitor. if there is a 'no signal' or any image displayed on the screen then the problem is not the monitor..

The screen stays black. The power light on the "on" button blinks on and off and flickers.

Try to unplug the monitor and totally shut down your PC. Wait 10 seconds and plug your monitor back in. Make sure the power is off on your monitor. Turn your PC on then turn your monitor on.

If you still don't get a picture and the light keeps flashing the monitor will need to go in for service. If it's no longer in warranty its best to just purchase a new monitor (will cost almost as much as a new one to fix)

Samsung monitor picture clicks off after 2-5 seconds...

Yes, It sounds like the backlight inverter circuit is shutting down. No inverter power, no backlight. On some monitors the inverter circuit will shot circuit the power power supply which makes the power light flash on some it just kills the backlight. You can usually check with a flashlight. Hold the flashlight pointed at the screen and see if you can see any of the icons or background picture. If you can then it is the backlight circuit or backlight tubes, usually the circuit.

My dell 1905FP power button flashes green and will not turn off, the screen is black.

Hello,

This is a common indication of a failure in the power supply. There are parts called capacitors that are used in the filter section of the power supply, when they go out the power supply can't properly turn on so you get no picture and a flashing power light. Here is a picture of the power supply board with the problem filter capacitors circled in yellow and below the picture in a link to a repair guide with details dis-assemble and repair instruction along with parts list for the Dell 1905FP and 1907FP models.

Starlogic 20 inch widescreen monitor screen keeps going black

This is probably a back light problem. Take a bright flashlight and while the monitor is on, point it at the LCD and try different angles, etc. If you can see an image, it is the back light, probably the back light voltage converter unit in the lcd. It could also be the back light bulbs.

If you don't see an image with the flash light, then it could be the main logic board.

Monitor only stays on for 3 seconds

There is probably a bad capacitor within the monitor that will not allow the picture to "hold" in the on configuration. This will need to be replaced. You can send it back to Phillips, or 17" monitors are pretty cheap these days. I would suggest a Samsung or BenQ. They both carry 3yr warranties.

Blank Screen..Will not power off

The flash light test only works with lcd monitor as they have back lights. Double check the connections again, also, if you can borrow a monitor try it on your pc, it may be your graphics driver needs to be uninstalled and re-installed, but you will need a monitor to see.
