....details are the same..the problem isn't with the contacts....as I said before, the camera will power off if I hit the internal switch where the lithium batteries are installed.... I presume that the problem is with that switch....otherwise, camera still powers up without lithium batteries, it's just slower to recover for the next shot

  • mrmccloskey Aug 08, 2010

same issue as before...this is getting old because my switch issue is not being addressed....all I get is replace the batteries or check the contacts...you sound like my IT guy who asks if the computer is plugged in....what about a solution from someone who has actually touched an S2....is that you? ..if not , send in another expert....

  • mrmccloskey Aug 09, 2010

....same problem....I thought that I was getting a new expert, only to get chewed out by the guy who told me to charge the batteries....nice customer service...this isn't a chat line, I paid for this service...anyone ever see an S2?

  • mrmccloskey Aug 09, 2010

....send for repair isn't the answer I was looking for seeing that I have THREE s2's in the same condition....I was looking for the actual problem before I spend more money on the camera than it is worth.....batteries were all(3 sets) recently replaced

Inspect the tangs on the battery compartment lid. They may be askew from improper battery insertion.

Thanks!!

Hi. I suggest try changing the batteries to NiMH. NiMH batteries are more powerful and reliable compared to other rechargeable batteries. Please see documentation re NiMH. Please click here.

All the best!

The only reason that I have seen this happen before was when the battery was faulty? Can you check yours. i guess the only way to Check, would be to obtain a new one...
However it is also possible that the switch in the battery compartment isn't doing it's job right, and instead of detecting the insertion of a battery it's shutting it down. in this case you will have to take it to a professional for repair, always take it to a Fuji service center. Ask for a "Quote" before allowing any work to commence.

When the batteries are put in the cam tries to power up from the batteries/ charge the batteries if its connected to the power supply. So your problem means, you either have to replace the batteries to resolve this issue.

You are able to turn off the cam, so there is no tripping going on here! Electrical definition of trip- "Trip is a fuse that turns itself off when a heavy over load is detected on the line".

Hi there. A mystery error shows the Display of my Finepix S2 pro. Its like that: "o - -" or "o _ _" in the upper Display. Has anyone an idea for that? Best regards, Harry

Try resetting the camera by removing the battery for 15 mins. Replace the battery then go to the camera's Menu and scroll through the settings to set the Date and Time.

My s7000 batterries do not last very long i am wondering if something is draining them down

PRESS RELEASE
Release Date: 12 January 2004

Fujifilm today announced that a number of early FinePix S7000 Zoom digital cameras may experience battery power depletion when used with some CompactFlash™ memory cards.

This fault does not occur when the S7000 is used with either an xD-Picture Card™ or a Microdrive™, nor does it occur in any other Fujifilm products that offer a CompactFlash™ storage facility, such as the FinePix S2 Pro, S602, S602 Pro or M603.

Cameras with serial numbers above 34L60001 (inclusive) were produced after 15 December 2003 and therefore will definitely not experience this battery drain problem.

In the short term, the problem can be avoided by unloading then re-loading the batteries just after the camera is switched off. The camera's power supply will then perform normally.

Fuji FinePix S2 Pro won't turn on

I had a very similar problem a couple of years ago. Found intermittent power from AA source when battery tray was moved slightly while shooting. I ordered a new AA battery tray from Fuji ($50 I think), problem solved, no trouble since. The tray must hold the batteries tightly against the contacts inside the camera. Camera had only shot about 5000 frames when the problem arose. Hope this helps.

Fuji s3 does not turn on...

You have done the right thing, so far. That which I would first have suggested. Congratulations! You would be surprised how many persons ignore the need for fresh batteries.

Yes, the camera should now be reset, and if that fails, service is required to make certain of your investment.

However, the battery must first be determined to be an actual Fuji battery, and if not, this is not your fault.

Please read the following:

Recommendation for Use of Genuine Lithium Ion Rechargeable Battery Pack for FUJIFILM Digital Cameras Thank you for using Fujifilm Products.
It has been our policy to recommend that the genuine Fujifilm rechargeable battery pack be used for Fujifilm digital cameras that use a battery pack.
However, it has been confirmed that there are certain counterfeit battery packs available in the market that look very similar to a genuine Fujifilm rechargeable battery pack.
Some of these may not comply with safety standards, they may cause serious problems, such as overheating, leaking, bursting, or fire.
For your safety, we would like to remind you to only use genuine Fujifilm rechargeable battery packs for Fujifilm digital cameras.

the lithium batteries power the flash and some of the metering. But if they drop below a certain power, the camera dies. The F33 error is probably the accidental movement of the aperture ring on the lense. If you get the error, check the aperture ring is set.

Err message on my S2 Pro

Try removing the lens, the memory card, and the lithium batteries. With freshly charged AA batteries, turn the camera on. If it comes on without the "err" message in that case, your problem lies with the memory card, the lens, or the lithium batteries. Turn off the camera and add these things until you encounter the problem again.

For a lens, check to make sure the electronic contacts are clean and that the lens gets fully twisted into place, and that if there is an aperture lock, that the aperture is set to the smallest possible aperture (22 or 16, usually).

For the memory card, reformat it elsewhere if it is causing problems. The Fuji S2 is notorious for being picky about memory cards.

Lithium batteries that are slightly run-down can cause all sorts of issues. Your S2 doesn't need to use lithium batteries, except for the built-in flash. You can add an extra AA battery pack to replace the lithium batteries, and that will improve the camera's reliability.

S2 pro electronic malfunction?!?!

If your lithium batteries are depleted, having them in the camera will shut it down. A common cause of depleting the lithium batteries is leaving them in the camera while using the AC power adapter. For some odd reason, the Fuji engineers did not build in a disconnect circuit when on AC power. You should always remove the lithium batteries when using the AC adapter.

The Fuji S2 will run fine without the lithium batteries, except that you will not be able to use the built-in flash. Fuji recommends that as an "emergency" procedure, but I ran my S2 off NiMH AAs only for my heavy use over four years with no adverse effects.

If you buy the MB-16 battery pack or one of the modified versions for the S2, you would be able to use 8 AA batteries to power the camera, including the built-in flash, and never touch another lithium battery. The MB-16 itself does require some modification in filing off edges around the base and building up material around the post to firmly engage the switch you found.

Camera shuts down when the flash is opened

the flash circuit of the camera is short. the moment you switch on the flash it drops the supply voltages of the battery. you have to show it to a repairer.
