Same problem here. Corrupt recording in library means can't view, delete or even select the recording without box freezing and having to kill power. Box also freezes about once a day and have to cut power and reboot. Less than 6 months old but lost receipt, doh!!

Obviously this is becoming increasingly common! Mine's doing the exact same thing. Trying to get in touch with Thomson isn't easy either - you hve to do it all by email. So far no reply. How am I going to watch last Tuesdays CSI???

I have exactly the same issue. A corrupt recording locking up the
machine in the library. The engineering menu option does at least let
me get past the corrupt recoding and play the other, but I tried
deleting the corrupt recoding and the box froze in... wait, no it
didn't. It just took an age to delete the corrupt recording. Patience
might be the key to this one.
If this still fails, I did see the
factory reset option, but this will delete all recordings. I have not
    tried this, but others have.

I seem to have got a corrupt recording and am having the same problem. I have recordings I don't want too lose so reluctant to reset everything. Please help somebody!

I am in a worse situation, I cannot switch on from Standby so not able to get at any menus. Supplier does not want to know even though it is in warranty.

Deleting a corrupt recording
A bug can cause an excessively long recording which plays normally and poor signal can also contribute. In v2.91 there is a fix to help with deleting problematic recordings (see 1. below), which can cause trouble when they are highlighted prior to deletion because the preview window provokes another crash. First Re-boot i.e. switch off power at the socket and switch on again after a moment or two, then:-
1. 'Disable Library Video Window': In the Engineer screen (Menu/Help/Setup/ press 1397) this setting can changed between the default ('Off') to 'On' this is the latest fix.

Hi! This is not a great solution and a bit long winded, but aimed at those who've lost the receipt! Start by recording a new programme - the box should still record. Now the corrupt recording is not the first one in the library. When you press library now, all appears to be well. You can find which is the corrupt recording by scrolling down slowly. The corrupt one should be the one with no thumbnail picture (plus it'll be the one that freezes the box up again!). Restart the box agan and press library. If you have recordings before the corrupt one you should be able to scroll very quickly past it and delete them now. Now the corrupt programme is at the bottom of the library list - you can't delete it but at least you can avoid it now...

Like I said far from ideal, but it works on mine. Still no word from Thomson. Hope this helps.

CANNOT GET PHILIPS DVDR3305 TO RECORD ON PANASONIC TV.TX-L37D25B WHILE WATCHING ANOTHER CHANNEL?.

What is your source? Since the DVDR3305 has an analog PAL tuner and most TV stations are broadcasting in digital, you probably have some sort of set top box connected to the recorder. If you change the channel on the set top box, you will record the program on the new channel. If you are recording PAL and your TV has a PAL tuner, you should be able to just record one show while watching another with the DVDR3305 daisy-chained to the TV. Just make sure to change the TV channel not the channel on the DVDR3305.

If your TV has a digital tuner, you can split the signal before the set-top box to record one channel and watch another. (Note: basic splitters will cause some extra loss of signal and may reduce a digital signal below the threshold needed to tune in the signal. An amplified splitter can avoid this - when the amplifier is working properly.) Otherwise, you need a second set-top box (or a dual tuner set-top box).

On my set-up with an aerial antenna, I would put the splitter between the wall jack and the electronics. The incoming cable goes to the splitter, then cable 1 goes to the TV. Cable 2 goes to the set-top box. Tune the set-top box to the channel to record and check the settings with the TV set to the DVD source. (DVD set to record on Tuner (and the specific channel of the set-top box output) or front s-video or EXT1 or EXT2.) Then change the TV back to the TV source and change to the channel for the second program.

The manual for the DVDR3305 is available from Philips. The link to the manual is http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/d/dvdr3305_05/dvdr3305_05_dfu_eng.pdf .
I hope this helps.

(I actually use an A/B switch and do not try to watch a second program on the TV connected to the DVD recorder. However, most of my recordings are for time-shifting of programs that air when I can't watch any TV program.)

How do I get subtitles on a dti 6021 thomson box?

The easiest way is to through the CC button on your remote control. But remember that not all channel have close caption features included in their programming. Try changing channel to isolate issue.

You can still record all the freeview channels. What has happened is you've run out of room on your hard drive. First you must deselect all the top up channels;
menu > 'Setup' > 'Customise TUTV', and un-ticking all boxes releases space and produces a report of '100%' free for recording. The time available for recording depends on the size of the hard drive and amount of data saved in each recording and 15% of disc space is not counted. This is for software or programme information etc. and, even when not subscribed, ads from TUTV are downloaded to library. However they are replaced or removed automatically, and messages are deleted after a week.
Also delete all the recordings in the library you don't need anymore.

User manual needed

remove power at plug socket
when you plug power back in start to repeatedly press the standby button on the front of the box
when this causes the orange light to stop flashing press the buttons up, down, left, right
(these buttons are on the front of the box not the remote)

this causes the hard drive to reset itself
WARNING
this will cause the box to completely reformat meaning you will loose all data recorded

but after this reset the box will work as new

Frozen hard drive

If you have a Thomson DT16300, here's a handy fix that address freeze ups, lack of reception and problems on your Hard Disk:

goto MENU screen
goto SETUP screen
goto HELP screen
At HELP screen, Enter 1397 - this accesses the engineer panel - you can reformat the HDD in this menu - you will lose all recorded programmes and planned recordings but it clears locked or corrupted files

OR - at the HELP screen, press the GREEN button

On the lower half of the screen youwill see 3 options:

Blue - Reformat HDD - clears all the memory/HDD - useful if you have a corrupted file - you will lose all recorded programmes though

Red - reset the whole box to factory settings - good if you have a locked box or reception problems or cannto scan for new channels. It goes back to when you bought the box, so you will have to input favourites and planned recordings again

Yellow - Software revert - allows you to go back to the previous software driver - you may lose new functions, but you can always restore it back again using the same feature
