There are couple of reasons causing this issue:

If the problem persists, then most likely that the compressor has lost or is losing its freon, which means that a licensed HVAC repairman must replace the compressor. Alternatively, it's time to get a new fridge, depending on how expensive the repair will be and how old the fridge is.
