If you mean that the power save time is very short. you can edit it at the properties of scanner.
But if you mean that the camera stop like hang after scan the first picture it may be from USB Cable or you have more than one installed driver on your PC & there is a conflict between it.
At the bottom of this article see http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php?topic=34583.0 it appears to indicate what the error code is and a potential solution. Look for "By the way, the POST error 6" in the article
When top cover is open, you get a display C01. Press the top cover and check if the display goes off.
The top cover is held in position by a spring loaded mechanism (The grey colored plastic part No MA2-6863-000) The spring is held in position by a small plastic tab and this was broken in two of my scanners. I used a self tapping screw in place of the plastic tab to keep the spring in position.

When the light bar flashes or blinks, the built-in diagnostics are
reporting the hardware is not functioning as expected; it does not
necessarily mean the scanner is defective. Before contacting HP for
service, perform the following:
Turn off the computer.
Disconnect the power cord and USB or parallel cable from the back of the scanner.
Unlock the transport lock several times to ensure it is not restricting
the movement of the carriage. Make sure it is fully open before
proceeding to Step 4.
Wait 60 seconds before connecting USB or parallel cable and the power cord to the scanner.
Does it show up in your hardware profiles? What does it say on details when you right click the scanner? When you installed the driver, was it before your plugged in the USB? You may have to uninstall and reinstall it again, this time use the one from HP's website with any patch if applicable.

As long as you have the proper driver installed your system will know how to apply it.
If LCD displays Error 06 or Error 09 , the TMA might require service
Press SCAN PICTURE button once (see Figure 3 above). The TMA lamp should turn on (see Figure 4 above). If pressed a second time, the TMA lamp turns off (if TMA is detected).
The scanner carriage lamp should be off when the TMA lamp is on and should be on when the TMA lamp is off. The only time the TMA could not be detected is if the accessory cable is not plugged into scanner
