Question about Cameras

2 Answers

Was downloading priceless photos of 40th High School reunion from my Nikon D70s to laptop and something went haywire. Did not download photos, but seems to have erased files. Camera reads "FULL", while Nikon software and Picasa say there are only 9 photos on the card. I took over 300. Any way to try to recover these priceless images?

I believe the problem occurred while downloading the files to picasa while connected to a hotel network while on vacation in Illinois. When I began the download, everything seemed normal. However, an error message then appeared, saying something went wrong and the files were not downloaded. While the camera still read "FULL", the picasa site showed no new photos downloaded.

Hello Kathleen. Rest assurred that your pix are not lost....yet...That said, do not try to retreive them yourself. Instead take your camera to the nearest photo shop that handles Nikon where one of the technicians will retreive the photos for you and get your camera back on track. Joe

Hi,
There are few ways to recover these pictures.
Plug your camera with computer/ laptop and close Nikon software that will pop up, click on My Computer, find out new hard drive letter (it is memory card in camera), like Mass Storage etc, click that new hard drive and check folders for your 300 pictures in memory card.
If that does not help then stored pictures properties might be set as hidden for some reason that makes unable to see them. Click on Tools in my computer window, select Folder Option, folder options window will pop up then click View tab and tick on "Show hidden files and folders" option, click apply and OK. Now check memory car folders for these 300 picture files.
If still problem not solved, download Pandora Recovery software, it is freeware and would not cost your money, install it, plug camera in computer and select memory card drive letter and let it recover deleted/ lost files in memory card
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

Nikon D70S How do I delete images with "File

You should have a file protection option in the camera menu, access the picture, press the menu button and look for the protection options.

You can download the user manual from here:-

Hi i have a nicon d70 it was working fine when taking photo's on saterday went to change lens from sigma 28-70 to sigma to sigma 75-300 and it came up with error code R07 and noththing worked changed back...

Have you tried formating the memory card? R07 means it has 7 shots in internal memory. Since you have already pressed the reset through the small hole in the front, if formatting the card does not work, try downloading the latest firmware from Nikon and installing it.

Have Nikon D70S looking for software

meikews,
Don't waste you money on software while traveling, buy a card reader that has a USB plug or cord and then you can download from the SD card direct to a computer - pick one up at a RadioShack or even a Drug Stoe. Pick up an additional card so you don't overwrite the current card. Don't reformat the CD card with the computer do that on the camera when you get back after you download the images you wish to keep. Enjoy

Same problem - no driver

I found this on another site. You have to set the camera itself to Mass Storage mode in order to work with Windows 2000. The steps are below. As soon as I did and plugged the camera back into the USB cable, Picture Project recognized the camera as connected, installed the mass storage driver for it and requested a restart of the PC. Able to access the memory card and download pictures.

On the camera itself, unplug the USB, turn it on and...

Press MENU....
Press ▲▼to choose SETUP...press OK...
Press ▲▼to choose INTERFACE...press OK...
Press ▲▼ to choose USB...press OK...
Press ▲▼to choose MASS STORAGE...press Ok..
Press MENU to exit...
Then plug it back into the USB cable.

Good Luck
