You have a bad motor coupling, they brake all the time, remove the two screws holding down the top console, lift it up,with a screw driver remove the two metal clips and remove the lid switch harness,it's a white plastic piece in the middle between the two metal clips, now remove the frame of the washer, down the bottom you'll see the pump, with a screw driver remove the two metal clips and remove the pump, now remove the two screws and two more metal clips and remove the motor,on the back of the motor you'll see the motor coupling,it should have three plastic arms on it but they probably are broke, also on the tranny the other half of the coupling is there remove that, the part number is 285753A and it's around 19 bucks, tap on the new coupling one part on the motor shaft, the other on the tranny shaft and slide the black rubber piece on the tranny part of coupling and slide the motor onto the other half so they lock together and this is what spins the tub.if you need help with anything else let me know, also if you can let me know how you make out with your washer, good luck. the coupling brakes all the time from overloading the washer<!-- from fixya rte -->

if the motor is running but the tub isn't spinning most of the time it's the motor coupling on kenmore washers, before you think it's the tranny or anything else check the coupling.it sounds like alot of work but it takes 5 to 10 minutes to get to the coupling, you have to take the pump and motor off anyway to get to the tranny anyway and way through your washer away for a 20 dollar part, check the coupling first

i meant to write you have to take the pump and motor off anyway to get to the tranny and why throw your washer away for a 20 dollar part, check the coupling first

Odds are that the brake/clutch mechanism is worn or bad or the transmission is gone.  my money is on the brake/clutch.  not hard to replace or too expensive to have done.

My Kenmore washer drains after the rinse cycle but won't spin at the end of it's cycle. If I manually set it to the spin cycle, it spins just fine. Desperate!!! The lid switch was just replaced about

Possible there is problem with the timer controller unit. It seems that the stepper motor is not moving to the next cycle until you manually move it to the spin. You can use some contact cleaners on the switch and also carefully try to see if the timer moves within , replacement is a costly issue and must be debated

Washing machine 11 years old is jumping on the wash cycles. EG instead of taking 25 mins its taking 10 mins to complete -clothes coming out wet unless manually turn to spin again

It is possible that the program is not running to the designed settings and so the program seems to skip the cycle.
The clothes come out wet because the spin cycle is not activated in the set program. Hence the program controller needs a check.

I just purchased my Cabrio washer...have had it a week. When I use the normal cycle, the machine does not spin the clothes at the end of it so when they cycle is done the clothes are dripping wet. I then...

I have had my Cabrio washer a little over a year. No it isn't suppose to do that. There is a setting for spinning high medium and low spin. Maybe you can change the spin setting manually. See if that works The washer is computer operated so the spinning cycle must be out on your normal cycle. I did myself a favor and I keep all clothes on towels and sheets. I set the temp for the water on what I would like manually. The washer fills up with more water and seems to clean the clothes better and My washer does the same thing from time to time about not spinning. Just remember you can set all wash manually with water temp and spin cycle. Is your washer still under warrenty?

Hello The washing machine is not going through

The lid switch has failed. It will not spin because it is a safety device.

Water pumping out at a trickle. stops in mid cycle

The timer seems to have gone out on you. Try to manually set it on spin and if that works then the timer is out.
