Hello,

As mower engine ages, the engine block sidewalls weaken. Locate the oil leak on your lawn mower. This is usually fairly easy, as the crack or pin hole in your engine block will have oil around it. Tip the lawn mower so the crack is facing up. This will prevent any more oil from leaking out.

Buff the cracked area dry with a rag.
Read and follow the instructions for the use of your cold-weld compound of choice. Stir the cold-weld compounds together with toothpicks to create a quarter-size pile at a time. Make more as needed.

Scrape the mixture onto the crack. Spread it out with the toothpick and have it cover a centimeter away from each side of the crack. Allow it to dry for 12 hours or as specified on the cold-weld compound's instructions

Will oil in spark plug compartment cause slow take off in acceleration.


Oil in the cylinder(s) can foul plugs, resulting in misfiring and thus loss of power. Another possibility is that the oil in the cylinder(s) comes from oil leaking into the cylinders. If these leaks are of sufficient size, they will reduce compression in the cylinder, and thus reduced power upon the cylinder firing.

No, the oil level sensor may be going bad, or have a loose connection. Check your oil level, and look beneath the car where you park for oil spots - if there are spots you have a leak. Some oil in older cars will get past the oil ring in the cylinders and be burnt in the cylinder - but usually you will see blue smoke coming out the exaust if that's happening.

Oil leaking into cylinder


"leaking into the top of the second cylinder on top of the spark plug wire
only this matter !! cure that.

some engines have spark well. are you saying the wells fill with oil?
if yes, you didnt buy a real valve cover sit, try FELPRO that
comes with the well seals , with kit.
skipping is misfire. if the boots get fill of oil, sure it will misfire, how can it not?

Timing chain broke and bent valves in my 202 pontiac grand am, all has been replaced and now cylinder #3 has no compression


Put #3 cylinder in firing position then put air pressure in that cylinder and remove the oil cap. If air comes out throttle body the intake valve is leaking. If air comes out the tail pipe the exhaust valve is leaking. If air comes out where the oil cap came off the piston is leaking.

2005 3.5l some times smokes oil then stops


Smoke oil? For what your thinking that is oil? Smoke coming from the tailpipe is not good news, but does not necessarily mean the engine needs rebuilding. First, you need to determine what color of smoke is coming from the tailpipe
* White smoke is caused by water and or antifreeze entering the cylinder, and the engine trying to burn it with the fuel. The white smoke is steam. There are special gaskets (head gaskets are the primary gaskets) that keep the antifreeze from entering the cylinder area.
* Blue smoke is caused by engine oil entering the cylinder area and being burned along with the fuel air mixture. As with the white smoke, just a small drop of oil leaking into the cylinder can produce blue smoke out the tailpipe.
* Black smoke is caused by excess fuel that has entered the cylinder area and cannot be burned completely. Another term for excess fuel is "running rich." Poor fuel mileage is also a common complaint when black smoke comes out of the tailpipe. Black smoke out the tailpipe is the least cause for alarm.


If you confirm us that is oil smoke, check and keep in mind that the car has many seals, gaskets, and O-rings that are designed to keep the engine oil from entering the cylinder, and one of them has failed. If too much oil leaks into the cylinder and fouls the spark plug, it will cause a misfire (engine miss) in that cylinder, and the spark plug will have to be replaced or cleaned of the oil. Using thicker weight engine oil or an oil additive designed to reduce oil leaks might help reduce the amount of oil leaking into the cylinder.

I was told there are two oil pans on Mazda Tribute 2001 (upper & lower) 4 cylinder manual. I have an oil leak do I replace both?


There are two gaskets, one is between the lower pan and the upper pan, and the second is between the upper pan and the engine. You only need to replace the gasket that leaks. If both are leaking, replace them both. To find out where the leaks are, raise the car, get underneath, and look closely all around the oil pans to see where the oil is coming from. Use a flashlight if necessary. You should be able to trace any leaking oil upward to its source.

The oil pan gaskets are not necessarily the only sources of oil leaks. Check to see if any oil is coming from behind the timing cover, and look for oil coming from the valve cover gasket.

Floods out 5 times out of 10 when trying to start car. Have to wait an hr. before trying to start again..Also a lose of power when going up a hill. Blue smoke comes out the exhaust. Also It won't change...

I have a 96 eclipse 2.0 with 150 thousand miles there is blue smoke coming out of the tail pipe smells like chemicals.

Using thicker weight engine oil or an oil additive designed to reduce oil leaks might help reduce the amount of oil leaking into the cylinder. I that doesn't work then i would get with a mechanic and have it leak tested for possible piston ring replacement.
