We have a jvc hx-d7 we are having problems with our radio, when you turn on the radio it shuts down into prtect mode and turns off. how do we fix it so that it stays on? write back please!!

The contacts in the volume control encoder are dirty. If you know what you're doing, it can be taking apart and cleaned, otherwise replace the volume control.
It sounds like you have a short. Check that your speaker wires are not crossed at any point. If no look into the connections and see if some wire has broken off into one and caused a short.
You can't. The main amplifier module will probably have a channel blown. The unit is detecting this and tripping into protect mode to stop further damage occurring. Needs to go to a repair place. sorry. ps If you get sound briefly before it trips off then it may just be a speaker wire shorting out! worth checking
Check back speaker wires! this is protection mode! There is a short circut! look for stray wires touching metal or each other!
if this does not do it then unit will have to be fixed by a pro!

I've got a jvc hx-d7 i am working on for a friend, he had it repaired once at a shop with this same problem, they replaced two 42v 2200mf caps. and one A1273 this solved the problem for 8months now its doing it again. I am trying to locate the A1273 to repair it again. Hope this helps.
