Question about LG 37LC7D 37 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

LG HDTV (48"?) won't turn on after 18-hour power failure (power is now back on). "On" light clicks green and then immediately goes off (red). Is there anything I can do or do I need service to check it out? Thanks.

The surge of power when the power came back on exploded the caps on the PSB-power supply board... You can call someone out but it will cost as much as buying a new one.

Monitor won't turn on after a few hours of being shut off

If it EVER works, then the problem is not a failed part, but a weak part. The most likely component type to give you such problems are capacitors. But very few repair techs know how to find such problems, and even fewer have the equipment needed to find the bad one(s) in-circuit. The failure mode is high ESR (ESR means Equivalent Series Resistance). The lower the ESR, the better. Capacitors with high ESR cannot stabilize circuits which demand high pulse currents, such as in switch mode power supplies.

Won't turn on

Check for loose contacts in power outlet. Switch off TV, switch off power, remove plug and wait for 48 hours and retry.
If problem persists, I suggest it is better to refer it to a qualified service
technician, since the back cover has to be opened for investigation/rectification.

Contrast really dark but seems to improve after the tv has been on several hours

Hi:
You may have a problem with the inverters in the unit, they are responsible for lighting up the back panel. Check or have checked the power supply voltage to the inverters, should be around 18-24 volts DC. Also leaky capacitors on the power supply will cause this issue as well as leaky or puffy capacitors on the inverter.

When i turn my tv on the red light goes to flashing green it comes on then immediatly it goes off but the light is on green... can you help

Tries tv unplug, replug it back about an hour later. The tv,now should reset itself back to factory setting. The tv should work now,not than the power supply board is dying, not giving the right voltage to the rest of the tv anymore.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

LG 47" LCD shuts down several times w/ blinking red light.

Granger1212 we had the same problem. We called LG and although our LG was out of warranty by 4 months, we were asked to supply our proof of purchase and LG sent a serviceman to our home and in 2 days we had our television back working wonderfully. It's the power supply, call LG and BE NICE, I'm sure they will fix it.

My lg42LC2D made a loud clicking noise and just turned off. Turning it on the power light went green but no picute of sound Is it fixable at a reasonable cost.

maybe the tv has been moved or transported recently. Plasmas can't really be layed on it's back (horizontally) they should always be standing vertically.

But in a case where it has been tilted or layed on it's back, then it should be left standing vertically for atleast 24 hours (i recommend 48 hours to be sure) without plugging it in... no electricity what so ever running into it. ( lets the gases inside the tv balance) > afterwards just plug it in and hold your wallet.

plasma tv's have a tendancy of malfunctioning when it's "chemically imbalanced".

It is the power supply. Replace the C97, C19, and C16 Capacitors with 2.2 uF ones.
