Question about John Deere Garden

1 Answer

I have a John Deere 997 Z TRAK that will stall intermittently. It will start right back up no problem, but as soon as you release the parking brake it will stall again. If you let it sit for a while, it will begin working correctly for a while then it will act up agin. This problem is very intermittent. I have tried replacing the parking brake switch along with the control arm switches--no luck. any ideas? Brian Cummings bcummings@villageoflisle.org

Look under your seat and see if you have the grey cloth holding a metal plate that trips your seat switch. If so contact your John Deere dealer because this setup has been a major problem for a while. For testing purposes only I would jump your seat switch and see if that points you in the right direction, remember that using youre machine with any saftey device tripped/jumped is a hazard.

I have a john deere 757 Z trak with a kawasaki 25 horse engine , problem is when it is running with the brake on it is fine . Disengage the brake to move it dies when I pull the handles In to move .

Bad emergency brake switch. ..or the brake is not fully disengaging. These units will stall out if you have the brake on correct? Your unit still sensing the brake is on. Check that out first, bypass it by disconnectIno it.

Brake pedal won't release on a John Deere 316 lawn tractor

I have the same problem. I just wiggle the black handle on the parking brake release. It usually allows the pedal to come back up. One of these days I'll see what hanging up in the linkage.

John deere 997 z trak pto not working, changed pto switch not help

You may have a defective park brake switch or the pto clutch could need to be adjusted.Does the machine **** down when you try to engage the pto?If so also check the seat switch. To adjust the pto clutch you need a 9/16' wrench and tur all three lock nuts on the clutch a half turn at a time a retry the clutch, keep going until it will stay engaged.

The parking brake on my John Deere L118 is stuck in the activated position. Therefore the tractor won't roll. How can I disengage the parking brake?

Usually there is a red handle under the steering colunm that locks the pedal down. You will need to depress the brake as you push down on the red handle which should release it.
