Question about Mitsubishi Heating & Cooling

I am trying to locate the specific name of a pipe or hose that connects the radiator to the engine in relation to the cooling system, which prevents the car from overheating. I need to order the part for a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer. It is commonly known and 'bypass pipe and connects below the engine.

    I need the name of the pipe or tube through which the coolant flows from the radiator to parts of the engine 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer. The process prevents the car from overheating. I need to order the connecting pipe. If you cant help plese return my money

Hi this is just called the "lower radiator hose" there really is not a specific name for it, you can google it, and get images to check this...hope that helps

How do i replace the radiator on a 2003 Buick Lesabre


3.8L Engine

  1. Drain the engine coolant.
  2. Remove the upper radiator seal.
  3. Remove the upper tie bar.
  4. Disconnect the coolant overflow hose from the radiator.
  5. Plug the coolant overflow hose.
  6. Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses.
  7. Remove the transaxle oil cooler pipe bracket bolt from the lower tie bar.
  8. Remove the cooling fans.
  9. Slide the plastic cap off the transaxle oil cooler pipe quick connect fittings.
  10. Disconnect the upper and lower transaxle oil cooler pipes from the radiator.
  11. Remove the A/C condenser mounting bolts.
  12. Separate the condenser from the radiator.
  13. Lift the radiator up and out of the vehicle.
To install:
  1. Install the radiator to the vehicle. Place the bottom of the radiator in the lower pads.
  2. Install the condenser to the radiator.
  3. Install the A/C condenser mounting bolts and tighten to 115 inch lbs. (13 Nm).
  4. Push the upper and lower transaxle oil cooler pipes into the radiator quick connect fittings, until a "click" is heard.
  5. Tug gently on the cooler pipes to ensure proper retention.
  6. Slide the plastic caps (1) over the quick connect joints.
  7. Install the cooling fans.
  8. Install the transaxle oil cooler pipe bracket bolt to the lower tie bar and tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  9. Install the upper and lower radiator hoses.
  10. Connect the coolant recovery hose to the radiator neck.
  11. Install the upper tie bar.
  12. Install the upper radiator seal.
  13. Fill the cooling system.
  14. Inspect the transmission oil level.

Where is the thermstat at in a 1998 ford taurus?


I'm guessing you can't find it because it's in a separate housing or located under the lower battery tray in the housing (depending on model of engine). Even though this is specific for 1998; I believe it's the same for 1996-1999 Taurus's. I have access to illustrations, but only .gif and/or .bmp extensions were available which would not copy here. If you need these, I will try an extension change to .jpg. Good luck, this should be enough info. It is helpful to include the engine size in question, for future reference...

Removal

Drain the engine cooling system so that the engine coolant level is below the water thermostat (8575) as described.
2.Disconnect the upper radiator hose (8260) from the water hose connection (8592) .
3.Remove the three water inlet connection retaining bolts. Remove the water hose connection .
4.Remove the gasket and water thermostat from the water hose connection . Do not reuse gasket.
Installation
1.Install the water thermostat , gasket and water hose connection as illustrated.
2.Install and alternately tighten the retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 10-14 Nm (89-124 lb-in).
3.Connect the upper radiator hose to the water hose connection .
4.Fill the engine cooling system with a 50/50 mixture of Premium Engine Coolant E2FZ-19549-AA (green), (in Oregon, F5FZ-19549-CC, in Canada, Motorcraft CXC-10), or Ford Extended Life Engine Coolant F6AZ-19544-AA (orange), or DEX-COOL coolant, or a coolant meeting Ford specification WSS-M97B44-D and water, as described under Cooling System, Draining, Filling and Bleeding procedure.
5.Start the engine and check all hoses and connections for leaks. Allow the engine to warm up so that the water thermostat opens.
6.Stop the engine. Top off degas bottle as required to maintain minimum cold fill level.

Removal

Drain the engine cooling system so that the engine coolant level is below the water thermostat ; refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.
2.Raise vehicle on hoist.
3.Disconnect the lower radiator hose (8286) from the water inlet connection.
4.Remove the two water inlet connection retaining bolts. Remove the water inlet connection.
5.Remove the O-ring seal and water thermostat from the water thermostat housing. Inspect O-ring for damage and replace if necessary.
6.If required, remove water thermostat housing retaining bolts, water thermostat housing and O-ring from lower radiator hose tube. Inspect O-ring for damage and replace if necessary.

Installation
1.Install the water thermostat , O-ring, water thermostat housing (if removed) as shown.
2.Install and alternately tighten the retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 lb-in).
3.Connect the lower radiator hose to the water inlet connection.
4.Lower vehicle.
5.Fill the engine cooling system with a 50/50 mixture of Premium Engine Coolant E2FZ-19549-AA (green), (in Oregon, F5FZ-19549-CC, in Canada, Motorcraft CXC-10), or Ford Extended Life Engine Coolant F6AZ-19544-AA (orange), or DEX-COOL coolant, or a coolant meeting Ford specification WSS-M97B44-D and water; refer to Cooling System, Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.
6.Start the engine and check all hoses and connections for leaks. Allow the engine to warm up so that the water thermostat opens.

Removal
Drain the engine cooling system so that the engine coolant level is below the water thermostat ; refer to Cooling System, Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.

3.Remove power distribution box.
4.Remove battery tray.
5.Disconnect upper radiator hose and position out of the way.
6.Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the water inlet connection (8K528) .
7.Remove the two retaining bolts. Remove the water inlet connection .
8.Remove the O-ring seal and water thermostat from the water pump (8501) . Inspect O-ring for damage and replace if necessary.

Thermostat

Installation
1.Install the water thermostat , O-rings and water inlet connection as illustrated.
2.Install and alternately tighten the retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 lb-in).
3.Connect the lower radiator hose to the water inlet connection .
4.Install upper radiator hose . Position spring clamp securely.
5.Install battery tray.
6.Install power distribution box.
7.Install battery.
8.Fill the engine cooling system with a 50/50 mixture of Premium Engine Coolant E2FZ-19549-AA (green), (in Oregon, F5FZ-19549-CC, in Canada, Motorcraft CXC-10), or Ford Extended Life Engine Coolant F6AZ-19544-AA (orange), or DEX-COOL coolant, or a coolant meeting Ford specification WSS-M97B44-D and water; refer to Cooling System, Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.
9.Start the engine and check all hoses and connections for leaks. Allow the engine to warm up so that the water thermostat opens.
10.Stop the engine. Top off degas bottle as required to maintain minimum cold fill level.

Having a promblem taking off crossover exhaust pipe on a 2005 Buick rendezvous I tooken off the two front exhaust Then took bottom two bolt . But still fasten to something is there other bolts...

here are the steps.

STAT out.
Remove the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.4L.

Drain the coolant until the coolant level is below the thermostat. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Refer To List 1) .

Remove the crossover exhaust pipe. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (Refer To List 2) in Engine Exhaust.

Remove the radiator hose from the thermostat housing.

Remove the thermostat housing bolts and clean any sealer from the bolt threads.

Remove the thermostat housing and gasket.
remove STAT
next is crossover page.

Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Refer To List 1) in Engine Electrical.

Remove the throttle body air inlet duct.

Drain the coolant from the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Refer To List 2) in Engine Cooling.

Remove the inlet radiator hose from the engine. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (Refer To List 3) in Engine Cooling.

Remove the thermostat bypass pipe. Refer to Thermostat Bypass Pipes Replacement in Engine Cooling.



Remove the exhaust crossover heat shield bolts.

Remove the exhaust crossover heat shield.
  1. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe studs/nuts.
  2. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe.

end , remove.

now the bypass pipe FWD cars SUCK
  1. Disconnect the left engine mount strut from the engine.
  2. Remove the heater hose from the bypass pipe.
  3. Remove the thermostat bypass pipe to throttle body nut.
  4. Use the J 38185 in order to remove the thermostat bypass pipe hose clamps (1,5).
  5. Remove the thermostat bypass pipe to cylinder head nut (3).
  6. Remove the thermostat bypass pipe bolt (4).
  7. Remove the thermostat bypass pipe hose.
  8. Remove the thermostat bypass pipe.

My car is overheating...where do I locate the thermostat?


Usually the thermostat is located directly in relation to the top hose of your radiator. find the hose that leaves the top of your radiator and see where it connects to the engine. The thermostat should be in that very specific area where the coolant exits the engine for cooling in the radiator

2.2L Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Properly drain and recover the coolant until the level is below the thermostat.
  3. Unfasten the coolant outlet-to-inlet manifold attaching bolt and nut, then remove the outlet.
  4. Remove the thermostat. Clean the inlet manifold and outlet mating surfaces.
To install:
  1. Install a new O-ring onto the thermostat
  2. Place the thermostat in the inlet manifold.
  3. Attach the coolant outlet to the inlet manifold, using the bolt and nut. Tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  4. Refill the engine cooling system.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable, then start the engine and check for coolant leaks.

(see Figure 7)

When adding coolant, it is important that you use GM Goodwrench DEX-COOL® (orange colored, silicate free) coolant meeting GM specifications. On these vehicles, if silicated coolant is added to the system, premature engine, heater core or radiator corrosion may result. In addition, the engine coolant will require change sooner; at 30,000 milee or 24 months.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Properly drain and recover the coolant to a level below the thermostat.
  3. Unfasten the cover-to-outlet pipe bolt, which is accessible through the exhaust manifold runners.
  4. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  5. Disconnect the radiator and heater hoses from the outlet pipe.
  6. Unfasten the outlet pipe-to-oil pan bolt and the cover-to-outlet pipe bolts.
  7. Remove the thermostat, then clean the old gasket material from the mating surfaces.

To install:
  1. Position the thermostat in ite correct location, then install the cover-to-outlet pipe bolt. Tighten the bolt to 10 ft. lbs. (14 Nm).
  2. Install the outlet pipe-to-oil pan bolt. Tighten the pipe-to-oil pan bolt to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm) and the pipe-to-transaxle bolt to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  3. Connect the radiator and heater hoses to the outlet pipe.
  4. Carefully lower the vehicle.
  5. Install the cover-to-outlet pipe bolt through the exhaust manifold runner.
  6. Properly fill the cooling system, then connect the negative battery cable.

How do you change thermostat in 03 cobra where is the thermostat


4.6L Engine - replacing thermostat



CAUTION Never remove the radiator cap under any conditions while the engine is running, or while hot. Failure to heed this caution could result in cooling system damage or severe personal injury.
  1. Drain the engine cooling system until the coolant level is below the thermostat.
  2. Detach the lower radiator hose, the return hose and the degas bottle hose from the thermostat housing.
  3. Remove the two mounting bolts, then remove the thermostat housing.
  4. Remove the O-ring and thermostat from the housing. Discard the O-ring.

To install:

NOTE To prevent installing the thermostat with an incorrect orientation, the housing contains a positioning slot. Install the thermostat so that the bridge part protrudes into the housing, not into the intake manifold.
  1. Position the thermostat and a new O-ring on the housing, then install the housing.
  2. Install the two mounting bolts, and alternately tighten them to:
    1. 4.6L SOHC engines 15-22 ft. lbs. (20-30 Nm).
    2. 4.6L DOHC engines 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).

  3. Connect the lower radiator hose, the return hose and the degas bottle hose to the housing.
  4. Fill the cooling system, then start the engine and check for leaks.
  5. If necessary, top off the cooling system overflow reservoir.

  1. Drain the engine cooling system.
  2. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.
  3. Remove the 2 thermostat housing bolts and separate the lower and upper thermostat housings.
    1. Discard the thermostat O-ring seal and remove the thermostat.


To install:

NOTE Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine coolant.
  1. Install a new thermostat with the smaller plate facing upward and the O-ring seal.
  2. Position the lower and upper thermostat housings together and install the 2 bolts. Tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  3. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe.
  4. Fill and bleed the cooling system.

Thermostat Removal & Installation 2.2L Engine 2004-2005 To Remove:

  3. Remove the water pump feed pipe from the thermostat housing .
  4. Remove the thermostat from the housing.
To Install:
  1. Install the thermostat on the housing.
  2. Install the water pump feed pipe on the thermostat housing with the mounting bolts. Tighten 89 in-lb (10 Nm).
  3. Fill the cooling system.
2006-2007 To Remove:
  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose from the surge tank and thermostat housing cover. Thermostat & cover gm-03-39-3601.gif
  3. Remove the mounting bolts and remove the thermostat housing cover.
  4. Remove the thermostat from the housing. Discard the O-ring.
To Install:
  1. Using a new O-ring, install the thermostat on the housing.

  3. Connect the radiator outlet hose to the surge tank and thermostat housing cover.
  4. Fill the cooling system.
3.5L Engine (LZ4) W/ Variable Valve Timing & 3.9L Engine To Remove:
  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct.

  4. Remove the mounting bolt/stud and remove the thermostat housing.
  5. Remove the thermostat from the engine.
  6. Clean the sealing surfaces.

  3. Connect the radiator outlet hose to the thermostat housing.
  4. Install the air cleaner outlet duct.
  5. Fill the cooling system.
  6. Check the cooling system for leaks.

  1. Drain the coolant.

  2. Install the outlet pipe-to-oil pan bolt. Tighten the pipe-to-oil pan bolt to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm) and the pipe-to-transaxle bolt to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  3. Connect the radiator and heater hoses to the outlet pipe.
  4. Carefully lower the vehicle.
  5. Install the cover-to-outlet pipe bolt through the exhaust manifold runner.
  6. Properly fill the cooling system, then connect the negative battery cable.

How do I replace a radiator on a 2002 maxima


Nissan Car 350Z & Maxima 1999-06 Radiator - Removal & Installation

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Drain the cooling system.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    Negative battery cable Coolant reservoir tank and bracket Upper mounting bracket Upper radiator hose Oil cooler lines, if equipped Lower radiator hose Cooling fan and condenser fan Fan motors and shields Radiator

To install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
    Radiator Fan motors and shields Cooling and condenser fans and torque the bolts to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm) Lower radiator hose Oil cooler lines, if equipped Upper radiator hose Upper mounting bracket Coolant reservoir tank and bracket and torque the bolt to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm) Negative battery cable
  2. Fill the cooling system to the proper level.
  3. Start the vehicle, check for leaks and repair if necessary.
WARNING Do not remove radiator cap when engine is hot. Serious burns could occur from high-pressure engine coolant escaping from radiator. Wrap a thick cloth around the cap. Slowly turn it a quarter of a turn to release built-up pressure. Carefully remove radiator cap by turning it all the way.

  4. Remove the radiator by performing the following:
    CAUTION Lifting A/C condenser should be minimum to prevent a load to A/C piping.
    With lifting and pulling radiator in a rear direction, disassemble lower mount from radiator core support center. Lift A/C condenser up and remove radiator after disengaging the fitting as front-bottom surface After removing radiator, put A/C condenser on radiator core support center to prevent a load to A/C piping, and temporarily fix it with rope or similar means

To install:
  1. To install, reverse removal procedure.
  2. Check radiator cap for any leaks.
  3. Start and warm up engine. Check for engine coolant leaks and A/T fluid leaks.
