It is the problem on graphic screen resolution. For that when you power up the computer press F8 key 5 to 6 times then you can see safe mode and other menu. Enter in enable VGA mode then go to start->control panel->display settings. Change screen resolution to 1024*768. If you are able to enter in safe mode not in enable vga mode then in safe mode uninstall graphic driver then reinstall driver in normal mode. Then it will work fine. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Compaq Presario CQ50-110US 15-inch Laptop dropped will boot but no video

Your laptop may have a combination of problems. Since the laptop was dropped, it is possible that your may a motherboard that no longer outputs video through the video controller, or the screen may have been damaged internally. Try hooking up an external monitor through the vga output of your laptop, usually located on the side or back of the laptop. If the external monitor works, then most likely it is your screen that's bad, if the external monitor doesn't works, then most likely it is your motherboard that's bad.

Let me know if this helps.

When i am installing windows xp3 in compaq presario cq40-301tu there displayed blue screen error....do u know the solution to get out of this error & continuing the installstions??

A) Installing same version of Windows, or a lesser version;

Enter BIOS Setup, and in Boot Options, set the first boot device to CDROM.

{Windows doesn't like being copied over by the same version, or a lesser version.
The above will make the computer boot up from the Windows XP sp3 disk you have}

B) If your computer came with a version of Win Vista, and you are trying to install WinXP over it, reply in a Comment.

Hi I am using hp Compaq presario CQ50-210US is getting heat with 5 mints of start

Hi,your Hp Compaq Presario CQ50-210US heating up after five minutes of starting up is normal for AMD(Processor) systems,they are actually rated as very fast processors and they tend to heat up very fast upon start-up,usually it is advised that you use such System in very cool environment to avoid component damage.also avoid placing the system on the bed or carpet or covering the vent under the system if you must raise it up,do so by placing it on an elevated platform so as to allow proper circulation of air.

Power up the external monitor first and then boot up the laptop, the video info will automatically divert to the external monitor.
If you do not see a Windows image on the external monitor then it is definitely a motherboard issue, because the video card is built in on the motherboard.
The Video card uses shared RAM (part of the RAM module/s ), try re-seating the RAM modules, also test the RAM modules.
You can test the hard drive by removing the hard drive and connecting it to an USB hard drive adapter, then connect the adapter into a working computer's USB port. If the hard drive is OK, this computer will see it as an external storage device and you can open the various folders and files on the hard drive.

My laptop was need to activation

A Compaq Presario 700US doesn't have the hardware to run Vista.
1.Processor: AMD Duron processor that operates at 900MHz

2.Ram Memory: 256MB of PC133 ram memory, (SDR Sdram that operates at 133MHz)
3.Graphics: VIA S3 Integrated graphics chip

Your laptop will run Windows XP, but I would advise upping the ram memory amount to the maximum, for the best Windows XP experience. That would be 384MB of ram memory.

Change to Windows XP? Sure. Just buy the full installation disk of Windows XP. (About $95 US online)
Be sure to go into your BIOS Setup, and in Boot Options set the first boot device to CDROM.

Whoever tried to put Windows Vista on that laptop, didn't know what they were doing. That laptop Will Not run it!
