Question about Craftsman 20 hp 42 in. Deck Lawn Tractor - CA Model
Check for belt wear *(the edges of the belt look frayed or scrubbed down?) and also look at the belt tensioner for wobbly/loose pulleys.
With the engine off have someone move the engagement lever while you look underneath at the belt to see which pulley is taking up the belt slack so you can then determine if this pulley has any issues.
If this mower is fairly new it is probably just belt wear. New belts are typically 20-30 dollars to replace. Less any labor.
Good luck and be careful!
