Cant log off gmx!! not an option, shutting it down with control alt del is not working

no PC stated; no OS stated; no browser stated. sigh.
GM works on my Firefox.
IE1 to 10 is banned
IE11 fails on Gmx.com it fails and locksup so avoid
internet exploder if using that, try Chrome or Firefox,
run FF v69 or newer.

the Control alt key must work always,
if not the PC is infected. big time.
if not doing W10 updates, that is, but no OS even hinted, at all.

you are posted to Computers not TV nor to cell phones so I can only assume it is a PC. of some kind.

How do I get it to go into bios when pressing f2 doesn't work?

Per the internet site, it depends upon the model of laptop. Here are some examples:

Laptops - Access Bios Settings Key

Issue

The most common Access Bios key is the "DEL" button or "F2". This depends on the laptop model, however, and can be confusing if you do not know which key to press.

Acer: F1, F2, CTRL+ALT+ESC

ARI: CTRL+ALT+ESC, CTRL+ALT+DEL

AST: CTRL+ALT+ESC, CTRL+ALT+DEL

Compaq 8700: F10

CompUSA: DEL

Cybermax: ESC

Dell Laptops:

Dell 400: F3, F1

Dell 4400: F12

Dell Dimension: F2 or DEL

Dell Inspiron: F2

Dell Latitude: Fn+F1 (while booted)

Dell Latitude: F2 (on boot)

Dell Optiplex: DEL

Dell Optiplex: F2

Dell Precision: F2

eMachine: F2

Gateway 2000 1440: F1

Gateway 2000 Solo: F2

HP (Hewlett-Packard): F1, F2 (Laptop, ESC)

IBM: F1

E-pro Laptop: F2

IBM PS/2: CTRL+ALT+INS after CTRL+ALT+DEL

IBM Thinkpad (newer) Windows: Programs-Thinkpad CFG.

Micron: F1, F2, or DEL

Packard Bell: F1, F2, Del

Sony VAIO: F2

Tiger: DEL

Toshiba 335 CDS: ESC

Toshiba Satellite 205 CDS: F1

Toshiba Tecra: ESC then F1 or F2

Toshiba Notebook [Newer models]:

  • Turn on the computer by holding down the power button while pressing the ESC key

    • The machine will beep, then display:

    • Check System, then press [F1] key.

  • Release the ESC key

  • Press the F1 key

Why would CNTRL-ALT-DELETE not work when I need to lock my computer? Where is the Num Lock located on this keyboard?

Num lock is located juz above the 7 num key on the num keypad. Try using control alt del key on another system and check if it works or not.

Ctrl + Alt+Del

Hi

is it a usb keyboard or a ps2(round connector) keyboard? the problem is most likely that due to the computer not having started up properly the keyboard is not properly configured / installed by windows.

to get rid of this problem, you need the old type of keyboard, turn off the computer, and plug in a keyboard to the ps2 connector.

green one is for the mouse, the other is for the keyboard, plug in a keyboard, then turn the computer on, you should be able to press CTRL+ALT +DEL now and ones you sign in to the computer it should install the usb keyboard and it should work from now on, just make sure the keyboard is not disconnected or port changed when the power is off from the computer that cause the configuration loss.

A disk read error occurred. the comp. said press ctrl+alt+del

The computer cannot find the operating system, the disk error message means it cannot find the hard disk, you most likely have a faulty hard disk or less likely a faulty disk controller.

You can test the hard disk by removing it and connecting it to a USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port. If this computer cannot detect this drive as an external drive then you will know your hard drive is faulty ad you need to buy a new one and install Windows and programs etc..
