Your camera is not numbering consecutively...it is starting over each time...hence the duplicate numbers. You can use a card reader to download the pics to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can right-click the duplicates and rename them.

What makes and models are your two cameras? What image settings are you using on the two cameras?
Without knowing the specifics, I'd say your Nikon is shooting larger pictures and saving them with less compression (better quality setting).

I erased a picture off my computer and I am trying to transfer ti again from the camera to computer and it wont allow me too t say sits a duplicate and did not transfer???

You could download it to a folder you create on your desktop. Once there, you can rename the picture and your computer won't think it's a duplicate.

Will not transfer all pics. says that they are already in program.. but they are not.

Check the numbers of the pics. Other pics with the same numbers may be on your computer. You can use a card reader and download the pics to a folder on your desktop. Then, you can change the names of the pics with the duplicate numbers.

I am trying to transer pictures onto my computer but some pictures are not transferring and when I retry is says all pictures were transferred but many are not. I have updated the software and no matter...

The pics that won't transfer may have the same numbers as pics already on your computer. If that's the case, you'll need to rename the ones on your computer.

Picture download

Your camera is not numbering the pics consecutively. It is duplicating the numbers and your computer thinks the pics are already there. You are going to have to figure out the duplicates and download them to a separate folder and then rename them.
