Question about Televison & Video

I have a Venturer PVS1960 in-car DVD system. For no obvious reason, neither screen will power up anymore. They haven't suffered any shock damage and the unit appears to be receiving 12VDC. Any ideas?

    We also had a problem with this player. For no apparent reason the main unit is no longer getting power. I tried the A\C adapter and the D\C adapter, either way....no power. Both screens are fine. The only thing I can think may have happened is the unit got overheated and fried somehow.

I have the same exact model and problem. MY sister has the same model so I tried troubleshooting with her equipment to figure what exactly was malfuntioning and it is the player itself that does not work. Nothing is wrong with my cords or screens but when they are hooked to my player nothing happens. I tried to find just the player to replace it and I can't. hope this helps.
Good Luck!

How much for your paperweights? Electronics is my hobby and i might be interested in purchasing your units for the right price.

I have this one as well. My girlfriends dad looked at mine, took it apart replace the soldered fuse that was blown and then he found out that the motor was smoking when power was applied to it. The motor fried the fuse and the unit is now a paper weight. Get a different unit.

Venturer dual screen dvd player for car

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, could be:
  • cable/connector problem;
  • 12VDC power supply/regulator;
  • monitor itself. Could be tested with another external video source and a shorter RCA to RCA cable.
Check and perform preliminary visual or necessary inspection. Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

HOW TO CHANGE THE VENTURER PVS 1371 PORTABLE DVD PLAYER TO REGION FREE

  • Press the OPEN button and keep the tray open
  • Press code 3597
You will now be in a hidden menu system
  • Navigate manu to select Region Code and select Region 9
  • Press Enter
    Press Menu to Exit
  • Confirm Region change by pressing ANGLE then DISPLAY (still with tray open) and you will see a long string of letters and numbers ending with R9. (if successful).
  • Power off.
The "venturer" pvs 1371 is marketed under several brand names in different chain stores, not surprising that it was hard to find, it is also 'durabrand' 'pacific' 'Lennox' 'Alco' 'funai' 'Emerson' 'Sylvania' 'Symphonic' 'Orion' 'Maxell' 'Resonance' 'Initial technologies' in various incarnations, and not all the manufactuer's rebranded items are available in each brand, and not all of each brand are from the same manufacturer

Venturer dvd problem

You can sometimes find discs on the internet for failry cheap that changes the region of the disc before the disc loads. So you might try and find a "region changer disc" on the net. Otherwise, lots of times, once a players region has been changed more than once or twice it will not allow another. If you have already changed it back to region 2 and it is still not working, you might have a bad dvd player now. Hate to be the barer of bad news.
