Woodstove smokes into the house

I've never used a ceramic chimney, or seen one for that matter. I know that the dual walled vent pipe works better when warn/hot. Can't explain it real well but the inner pipe gets hot while venting the heat and smoke. And between the inner and outer wall is cooler air, which is drawn down towards the wood burner. Creates a suction by the exhaust out of the center pipe. Mine smokes up the house when I leave the doors open and when it's a low flame inside. I'm sure you've checked on the manufacturers' specs for venting but, if you don't already know, look into the thermal dynamics of a dual walled vent pipe. And also a ceramic as you have. Has to be something with your stove install or vent pipe. Hope this couch advise helps!

Keep Your Electronics Cool this Summer

Don't stack electronics. Your electronics conduct enough heat individually. If you have your gaming console on top of your DVD player, and your DVR on top of that, you should definitely split them up.
Keep vents clear. Almost every electronic device has one or more vents to control it’s temperature. Make it a point to look around your house for any loose items that may be obstructing the airflow around your electronic devices.
Position electronics away from heat. Use common sense when storing your electronics. Keep them out of direct sunlight, and if it’s possible, place them in the path of a fan or air conditioner. Hot air rises, so store things on the basement or ground level of your home.

I have the York Outdoor Split System Air Conditioner- Model # h4de024S06A, Installed in my home on june 12, 2004. We had no problems at all until last night when we noticed that the Furnace of the Fan is...

I think you may have 2 problems. Thje outdoor fan not coming on would cause the compressor to either go out on high discharge pressure or internal overload. Either the fan is bad or the capacitor is bad or both, which can be replaced.
The second problem is either the unit froze up on you and for the short time that it will cool before it quits. You may want to make sure you cool speed for your indoor unit is set to hi cool speed which is usually black

I just had new vents run in the basement and even though they are closed, it will not cool the upstairs. It is 80 degrees upstairs. What is the problem?

First when you add new vents make sure your unit is big enough to handle the extra load. If you have shut off your vents to the basement. and it does not cool you may have AC problem. Sounds like you need to get it checked. Ask for a free estimate before you commit anything. Remember if they add gas you have a leak and it should be found. Rus When your ac does not cool properly check filters float switch in unit. Breaker on outside unit. Take a thermometer and take a reading from the reurn to the closest vent you should have between 17 and 21 degrees diference across the coil. If you have electric heat or heat pump you may need have a heat sequencer stuckmkeeping part of the heat on during cool.

Wont turn on at all

I assume this is a house HVAC unit. Is it a split unit with the fan cooling unit outside and the condenser unit inside the atic or the basement ?

Check the circuit breaker on your house circuit breaker board first that it is not tripped. If its good then continue.

There are many reasons why it may not be working, but one of the first things to check is your starter capacitor.

First turn off the contact breaker for your AC unit at the fuse box in the house, then go to the external units and pull the circuit breaker out where the unit hoses attach to the wall of the house.

Take off the inspection pannel on the rear corner where the hoses enter and exit the External cooling unit and look for a silver can with three spade terminal connections on the top. Its probably about 4 inches high and anything from 1.5 - 3 inches across. It can be a cylinder or a oval cylinder in shape.
Check to see if the capacitor looks like it has had an explosion inside - i.e. the top is bent up in a dome shape or there are holes blown in the top of the capcitor. If that's the case you need it replaced. this is the starter capacitor that helps build the voltage to get the compressor going. Without it working the unit will not start. Depending upon your capacitor rateing you can get them on line around $20, but you have to buy the right rating ( for this you will need to check the labeling on the old capacitor) or if you call an AC company they will charge you about $100 for the same thing.

A great site to go to to find spairs at very reasonable rates and to look for assistance is Arnolds. See here:-

Good luck

Blower Turns off if ac unit comes on. No air coming through vents

This only could 1--2 things, a bad circuit board fan relay or bad thermostat. To check for bad thermostat, take off the front cover to reveal the 4-wire terminial and jump the red-wire (power)-cool,(yellow -y or blue)--- green--fan white-(heat) to yellow-or y=cool. Thank-you-very-much!

Unit/control panel completely dead

Check your circuit breaker, "off" and "on" the breaker it my be tripped off. If it wont work may be some fuse blown in the control, or the control itself may be defective.

Heat pump trips circuit breaker

I seem to have the same problem. But when I reset the breakers, they won't stay in the on position. They go back to the off position. What gives? It is 95F inside the house.
