Question about Kodak EasyShare M883 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I have an M883 Digital Camera, and when I plug the USB cable into the computer and connect it to my camera to turn it on, the little green light below the "review" button blinks but the camera won't turn on. What's the problem? I've checked and the USB cable is plugged in fully and so is the connector for the camera, also the battery is in the right way as well.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Kodak M883 will not accept charge when plugged to computer and will not go on either when plugged to computer.

Not all computer USB ports put out enough current to charge batteries.

If you're connected through a hub, try bypassing the hub and connecting directly to the computer. If you have another USB port available, try that. If you have a USB charger that plugs into a power outlet, try that.

Possible solutions:
Remember you need to turn the camera on when transferring.
Try a different USB outlet
Try a different cable
Try a different computer.

If all fails please contact KODAK in order to arrange a repair or order a new cable. Remember your USB cable is covered under the same warranty as your camera, so remember your serial number when calling:

I took a video using my camera easyshare M883 and i was wanting to know how I can download my video to my pc or e-mail to myself or something so I can get it on here

Hi Jen,

You should be using the software that came with the camera and a usb cable with a usb adapter to download the video to your pc. Install the software on your pc and open it up. Turn off the camera and plug the usb cable to the pc and the other end to the adapter. Plug in the adapter to the camera bottom. Then turn on the camera, should work like a charm. Thanks for coming to FixYa and have fun with your camera!

"check connections"

I am having a similar problem. I put mine in its dock, connected the USB cable to my computer, and pressed the USB button on the dock. The light turned green and after 30 or so seconds, the message Check Connections came up on the camera.
