Question about Maytag MDBH955AWS Stainless Steel 24 in. Built-in Dishwasher

Turns on, the entire cycle runs, but no water pumps through the sprayer. There is water present on the bottom....and I can here the water pumping in at the beginning of the cyle....but the dishes are not being 'washed' by the sprayers. I have disassembled and cleaned the entire inside and sprayers to no avail. Im thinking its a pump/motor issue but Im not sure because the sprayers spin, the heat comes on, the detergent dispenses....but no water is being sprayed. Thanks.

I disassembled and cleaned/cleared every single part that is supposed to dispense water.

  • alepore99 Aug 06, 2010

So is it the motor or pump? Or both?

Just trying to save a few bucks.....thanks!!!

Yes i agree, your pump is not working as it should. J.

That said if this machine is over 3 years old, replace it. The new ones are so much quieter, better, and cheaper to operate. J.

Your main wash motor is jambed. Sometimes it can be unjambed by turning the impellat from the front or worst scenario, replace the wash motor.

Frigidaire Model FDB780RCB0 I am getting water in the machine but it seems the arms are not turning what can I do to get that fixed?

The pump in the dishwasher is supposed to provide enough water pressure to turn the spray arms and make them rotate. The pump is faulty and not giving enough pressure or the arms are stuck.
Try spinning the arms, if they rotate smoothly, you will need to replace the pump.

The soap does not seem to dissolve to clean the dishes and I do not seem to hear the water spraying during wash cycle

your rotator sprayers may be blocked or pump is broken,

remove rotator sprayers by gripping the stem and pulling or twisting out, check manual.

check that the holes are clear.

then try starting your machine with the sprayers out and see if you can hear the water.

if you dont hear anything the pump might be broken,

fistly check that the filter in bottom of machine is clear.

I hope this was useful.

Bosch Dishwasher SHX46A05UC/23 - No Water

Sounds like your recirculating pump is clogged If it is water can't get up enough pressure to turn the sprayers.
You'll need to start pulling parts out of the bottom inside to get to that pump. I don't work on a lot of Bosch, but that sure sounds like it to me. I see this a lot. Hope this helps...

The dishwasher runs completely throught its cycle. It appears the pump is not pumping water up on the dishes. Help please!

somtimes the holes on the sprayers will get pluged up, they can be removed and rinsed out usually by removing a nut or cap in the center of the sprayer. let me know.

It is filling and running but the water is not

Could be two different things -- either the pump is not moving water through the sprayer arm, or the sprayer arm isn't free to spin around.
I've fixed one of each in the past year, so either is reasonable.

First, check the easy one -- the sprayer arm.
Open the dishwasher and pull the bottom tray forward so you can reach the sprayer arm.
Reach in and try to spin it around by hand. It should move freely, and if you flick it around, it should spin a full turn around before stopping.
If it's unable to move at all, then look for something stuck like a fork or plastic bag.
If it moves, but very quickly stops spinning, it might be a foreign object or it might need a new sprayer arm assembly. The one I got this year was $38 including shipping.

If the sprayer arm is free and easy to move, then check the water pump:
Start the dishwasher and listen. When it's done filling and sounds like the wash cycle, quickly unlock and open the door.
It shouldn't spray water in your face, but there should be lots of water dripping from the racks and the top (and the dishes, if it's loaded when you do this test!)

If not, then the problem is either a failed main pump or a blocked pump, and the repair will be a bit more money and a lot more time.

If this helps, be sure to click the thumbs-up to tell me so!

LAWN SPRAYER PUMP WILL NOT SUCTION

Disconnect the sprayer boom hose from Y splitter, and dd another Y splitter, then reconnect the boom hose to one side of the added splitter. Add a washing machine supply (female/female) to the other side of new Y. now attach garden hose to washing machine line and turn on the water faucet with pump running. This will charge and/or backwash the pump. Once pressure is achieved, turn on the boom and check for fluid movement, then turn the washer supply valve on Y to off, and disconnect. The pump should be primed and be cycling fluid from tank and back to tank. Ready to shift to boom for use. I leave the washer hose and assembly zip-tied onto sprayer for easy future priming, and pump wash between uses.

Dishwasher comes on, fills with water, water heats, no movement of the arms so no water spraying out, then the water drains, it goes through the dry cycle and no clean dishes.

What is the manufacturer and model number of your dishwasher?
Depending on the model and design, the sprayer motor/pump has probably failed and the drain motor/pump is still working.
Recommend you pull the sprayer arm and filter. Look for debris that could be jamming the pump - watch out for broken glass when looking.
Make sure the impeller can spin and is not damaged.
If that does not fix the problem, replace the wash motor / pump or replace the entire dishwasher with an Energy Star qualified name brand model.
Good Luck!

Machine runs through cycle but does not wash dishes

It sound like a pump issue. The pump is attached to the motor and forces the water up into the sprayer arms and during the drain cycle, it pushes the water out of the dishwasher. Look if the pump's impeller (a round plastic fan blade-type of device) spins around. In case it doesn't spin, look if it doesn't blocked or stuck from any other reason. Good luck

Fills with water but won't wash.

It could be a motor or a pump issue. The dishwasher has a motor that attached to a pump which forces the water up into the sprayer arms and during the drain cycle, it pushes the water out of the dishwasher. The motor (and pump) located beneath the dishwasher. Check if motor spins. In case it spins, the problem is with the pump ,in case it doesn't spin it could be a motor problem or a motor and pump problem. Good luck
