Question about Sharp R-1210 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

I am installing a new power board on a Sharp R1214 microwave. It is all plugged back in except the last two have identical plugs and I don't want to plug them into the wron place. One has white and gray wires in a yellow plug the other has red and black wires and a white plug. The control board is marked RY1 on the top plug and RY2 on the bottom. Which way do these go (I should have paid more attention when I took it apart!!) Thanks, Lynn

What model would be equal to a sharp microwave model R1490

Chances are only an identical model will fit the brackets. Any new unit will come with new brackets. Just swap the brackets out and install the new unit

I need a new transformer for my Sharp Microwave Model # R1214 - the part number is RTRN-Bo68MREO (1100 watt microwave)

The part number has been changed to RTRN-B098MRE0. You can find it new on the Sears parts site and at Encompass parts. There's a used one available on eBay for quite a bit less. Given its cost, when the high-voltage transformer fails, most people find it's cheaper to replace the oven.

When plugging in a Sharp R-33st microwave, nothing happens except a flashing time, no buttons seem to work, any ideas?

it sounds like this is not a new microwave,, is it getting on in years?
if the microwave was discounted from the mains when it was pluged back in the power surge could have blown the circuit bord inside it,, this is quite common, it may be cheaper just to buy a new microwave than spend good money on an old week unit

How can I get the power to come on my Sharp microwave?

The problem may be an electrical one. Microwave ovens require a lot of power. Often, they use most of the power available to the circuit they are plugged in to. If there is not enough power in the circuit to feed the microwave and whatever else is plugged into that same circuit the fuse will blow or the circuit breaker will kick off.

Go to your electcical box, and check the breakers or the fuses. If one of the breakers has kicked, reset it by pushing it all the way off and then back on. If the fuse is blown, unscrew it and screw in a new one of the same amperage.

good luck. please rate my answer. thanks

Sharp R-1480 failed after a power outage

It's most likely the low voltage transformer that's part of the circuit board or a blown trace on the board. The HV transformer would only burn and smell if the unit was in a cook cycle.

The complete board assembly is only around $80. If you're really handy, you can order just the little transformer, but you'd have to remove (unsolder) the old one and install (resolder) the new one on. The circuit board is one assembly and it takes all of 30 minutes or less to replace from start to finish.

Check with Martin Microwave Inc. @ 1-877-894-0035 to order or to inquire.

Hit with 220V and now nothing.

I think the control boards are still available for this unit. No doubt the '220' blew the front end of the power supply.

Found the answer by calling a Sharp technician and they said it was the magnetron tube, which is not worth fixing :( Thought I'd pass this on to anyone that has yet to find out.

Display only shows 8888 - display buttons do not work.

try a reset. unplug for 10 mins, plug it back, see if it will work.

if not , open the housing, see a ribbon cable from the touch pad to the main pc board. remove the ribbon cable for 1 min. re install it back and test the unit.

be sure to return all cover and screws of the unit before plugging it back. microwaves are hazardous to your health.

tnx 4 using fixya,

Replaced capacitor but now light won't come on

Do you get anything on the display when you plug it in? If not, then the magnetron temperature fuse may be blown, too.

Did you get all the connectors plugged back into the circuit board if any were removed?

There may be a relay problem on the board. The following service manuals on our site may help you:
