Question about Whirlpool RBD305PD Electric Double Oven

1 Answer

Whirlpool over (RBD305PDS15) display not working. The oven is 5yrs old and recently the display started gradually fading...now there is nothing. The oven still works, inside light still works and the buttons still beep. I've read 2 possible solutions: (1) defective display...replace Control Panel Assy (part #8300435), (2) defective ECC...replace Conrol Assymbly (part #8302319). The manual also lists 2 other parts, Control Panel Gasket (part #4451034) and a Sister Board Latch (part #8301848). Any advice on which part is required?

The provided solution was WRONG. Ordered the part...had to return the part...had to eat the restock and shipping...cost me $50.

As I have now found out, the Control Panel (recommended solution #1) is not the CPU...it is more like the keyboard (buttons only). The ECC is the correct part (#2 in my original question). The ECC is like the CPU.

Hello,

The first on the list is the cause of the problem and its the part the needs to be replaced.

The control panel is like a central processing unit (CPU), it controls all the function of the Oven. Usually, the control panel is the cause of most oven problems. The control panel is also know as the control board.

I am not say this because you listed list, but because that actually the cause of the problem. If you had not stated it, I would have still mentioned it.

Therefore, replace the control panel and your oven will be work perfectly again.

Good luck.

Hello!
This blank display is a common control board problem. If the buttons beep when pressed, then the control board is getting adequate power. If the buttons beep.. and your oven light still turns on when the oven door is open.. this a text book control board failure. We at Fixyourboard.com can solve this problem for you, and back the remanufacture with a two year warranty.

Whirlpool Wall Oven not working

It is likely the Thermal Cut-Off (TCO) fuse, which for many Whirlpool ovens is located on the back of the unit. Turn the circuit breaker for the oven OFF first. You'll need to remove the trim on the left and right side of the oven (2 screws) and then remove the screws holding the oven in the wall. You can locate it easy enough by looking for the thermal fuse on any of the major appliance part websites. The test is simple enough if you have an Ohm meter, as it will be an open circuit if it is blown. There is only one fuse (normally) so if it is blown neither the bake or broil element will work. There should be a Tech Sheet located behind the control panel which will help, but if you don't feel comfortable doing this call a service tech.
