The only sound a fan should make is a high or low velocity blowing sound. if it grinds, here is why. It is either a defrost timer or limit switch, That's the little clip on device located on top of one of your freezer coils.

Thanks for the info but again, how do I get to the upper freezer coils?

Just I can tell you that ice builds up in the top compartment where the fan is located, causing
the fan to actually hit the ice making a very loud grinding sound. Owners comment: Left
unchecked the fan will stop completely!

Its necesary called for repair and the Tech came out and took it apart & simply
chipped the ice off. Imagine paying for that service call...

Had to have a relay replaced also.
Drain tube from the top compartment continues to freeze preventing the
water to drain to the pan.
Of course there is no way to access this tube so you have to unplug the
entire thing (Moving all your frozen goods to another freezer) so it
    will thaw & drain.

Hello,

It looks like the problem is from the fan, it is either the evaporator fan is not blowing or the fan is loose or covered with dust.

The fan is is at the back of the refrigerator, look at the bottom of the refrigerator, at the back, you will see the compressor and the fan.

Take care.

The fan noise is in the upper top refrigerator section, above the freezer lower main section, not the lower. It is a Garage Gladiator/Whirlpool Freezerator.

Are you getting any heat from the condenser? Sounds like the buzzing is the compressor failing to pump.

Gladiator Model No. XXRK- Freezer door was left ajar overnight a little while ago - Now I cannot get the temperature back to zero. I cleaned a blanket of dust off condensor coil- no change... Not Always-...

Gladiators are a unique breed from any other style of refrigerator for their convertible capabilities of altering which section you wish to be the fresh food or the freezer, and the ability to use it in colder ambient temperatures than a typical residential refrigerator. This unique capability requires the use of a reversible fan motor and and dampers as well as additional foam insulation. If the door was left open, you have likely a buildup of frost and or ice in these air ducts as a result. My advice, empty it out, unplug it, open BOTH doors, blow a fan into the cabinet for a minimum of 24 hours. The water coming from the suction line of the compressor could be a sign that there is a little too much refrigerant in the system, or that it is in a fairly warm area, or near some source of heat.

My freezerator fan broke. I have the part but not sure where the fan motor is located. Is it in the top or bottom section and do I take the back off or remove the inside back panel to fix

If it's a side/side it's usually on the top behind the rear cover inside the freezer and you will have to remove at least part of the cover.

Gladiator ref is not cooling properly

Check to see if there is cold air coming from the freezer to the refridgerator side through the vent holes The compressor maybe getting weak or the freon charge maybe low. Does the unit run a long time before it shuts off? 50 degrees is not cold enough for a freezer. You should be around 32 or less.

My maytag Wide by Side refrigerator started making this buzzing noise coming from the freezer section every few minutes and now it no longer cools.

It is possible that the door was not closed tighly, so the humidity built up in the duct line and the low temperature from the freezer make it turned into ice causing the clogging. The Buzzing noise turns on due to the sensorsomewhre along the disigne path. Unplug the fridge for a day and a half so the the ice in the duct line could melt down then when you turn on the sensor won't turn on the buzzing any more. Good luck.

Ice build up

You should to check the Whirlpool Gladiator Freezerator's door sealer to make sure all rubber or plastic seal very well to prevent air humidity come in to build up frost fast. Also, you have to defrost completely and wipe with cloth or paper towel to absorb all waters out and let it dry completely to prevent frost build up.
