Question about Samsung HLP4663W 46" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Model: HLP4663W Lamp error on Power Button, I replaced lamp assy. Now I get Lamp and Temp/Standby error on Power Button (Lamp did go on a couple times momentarily, but now it don't do anything). I suspect it is a problem with the BP94-02141A/POWER power supply board and am looking for service documentation with Oscilloscope Test Points so I can troubleshoot (All voltages listed on circuit board are present except the 80V is about 60V and the 33V is about 20V). It's a nice TV that I'd like to fix if it isn't going to cost an arm and leg... I already have over $200 invested in the lamp assy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Kevin

If Lamp and Temp LED blinking that shows problem with lamp cover safety switch.
Make sure lamp cover is placed in its position correctly so it can engage safety micro switch inside cabinet that tells system control chip that lamp cover is fixed. It is safety feature.
Service manual shows following instructions for lamp and temp light blink.

Check that the cover detection switch is inserted at CN107 on the Sub Detect/Actuator board when LAMP and TEMP LED blinks.

When LAMP and TEMP LED blink, check that the lamp cover is properly assembled and that the switch pressing boss(inside) is not bent.

let me know if you have additional question.

No picture on a Samsung HL-P4663W, trouble lights confusing...

The most common blink code for the Standby/Temp LED is the Temp Sensor and or Actuator Board. You can confirm which on by jumping the CN106 connector on the Actuator board. If the set works now, the Temp Sensor must be replaced. If it doesn't work, the Actuator Board would need to be replaced. If you are not familiar with the chassis or electronics at all , I do not recommend trying to fix it, call a professional. Don't take the chance of damaging it further.
I hope this helps,

Turning off

Three blinking lights indicates a lamp problem.  This can be from A) a bad lamp, B) bad ballast C) bad Light Engine/DMD Board.  Try replacing the bulb first.  As with any lamps, it has a limited life.  If that doesn't work, you can try the ballast next.  If that doesn't work, it's time to take it in to a certified repair center for diagnostics.  Here is a page from the service manual on the three blinking lights.

there are 3 leds on the front that blink the error code. which leds blink gives you the error. if its just the standby/temp red led blinking, it has overheated for some reason. there are a couple other fans you could clean but check your ventilation. many people put too close to the wall or close it up in a cabinet. it needs atleast 4" from the wall and someway to vent out hot air and get cool air in. a different model had the temp sensor cause this issue, it is the silver thing right atop the lamp. you will have to pull the whole back panel possibly, there are two wires that hook to it and two screws holding it to the engine (lamp housing). if you get lamp and temp leds blinking, reseat the lamp door. timer and temp leds is a fan error, all 3 leds is a lamp error (lamp, ballast, colorwheel, dmd)
