Question about Sony Handycam CCD-TRV57 Camcorder
Of course it happens when you least need it to! There's no picture at all but the tape is moving. Thank you for any help.
My best guess would be that the video head needs cleaning. Check with your local Radio Shack or video store for a video cleaning tape.

This is usually caused by an oxidized or defective Audio/Video drum. Try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be repaired qualified service technician.
