Dryers - My Timer is not Advancing

You must have a dryness sensor similar to this9a2ef08.jpg Wet clothes rub the sensor and this chff9524f.jpganges the resistance of the sensor. The dryness board sends power to the motor to move the timer towards the end when no more dampness is detected. 2 things you can do before buying any parts is clean the sensor and yank out the little board next to the timer, clean the contacts and get rid of the corrosion. If you do not have a control board then you need to replace the heating element control klixonc21ad26.jpg

It won't shut off and the dial won't move on it's own.

Look inside the drum and find the sensors.ccbad47.jpg Give them a good clean with alcohol. They might have something on them preventing the resistance readings from being sent to the dryness board. Next find the small computer board by the time and yank it out. Clean the terminals(might be corroded), with any luck you might not even have to buy a part. How about a manual? I have one that features electronic dryness sensors HERE

LG Dryer Sensor

The moisture sensor is in the lint filter. Remove 4 screws from inside the drum and you have the sensor attached by 2 wires. On my dryer I disconnected then reconnected these 2 wires, reassembled the lint trap and auto dry works fine again

Amana model LGA30AW automatic setting doesn't shut the dryer off

You can make adjustments to your Automatic Cycles by adjusting the Factory Dryness Level:
Changing the Automatic Cycle settings to increase or decrease drying time:
If all your loads on all Automatic Cycles are consistently less dry or more dry than you would like, you may change the default settings to increase or decrease the default dryness

Your automatic drying settings can be adjusted to adapt to different installations, environmental conditions, or personal preference. This change is retained and will affect all of your
Automatic Cycles, not just the current cycle/load. There are 5 drying settings, which are displayed using the time display:
0 Much wetter clothes, 30% less drying time.
1 Slightly wetter clothes, 15% less drying time.
2 Factory preset dryness level.
3 Slightly drier clothes, 15% more drying time.
4 Much drier clothes, 30% more drying time.
TO CHANGE THE DRYING SETTINGS: NOTE: The settings cannot be changed while the dryer is running or paused. The dryer must be in standby mode (power is off) to adjust the default settings.
  1. Before starting a cycle, touch and hold DRYNESS for 6 seconds.
  2. Touch DRYNESS to select the dryness level shown in the time display: 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4.
  3. Touch START/PAUSE to save the new dryness level setting.

LG Electric Dryer DLE2515S - dryer timer is stuck on 6 minutes and continues drying until I manually switch off - sensor dryer does not appear to be working either.

OK, test the dryness sensor for its operational value. if the test confirms sensor function, you will need to replace the main PCB board in this case.

Now, if the sensor test reveals a faulty sensor device, simply replace the sensor. In most cases, this iwll be a fualty PCB main and, replacing it will usually fix this issue.
