Question about HP OfficeJet G85 All-In-One InkJet Printer
The plastic strip inside came off. How do I re apply. It is located above the belt.
Replacement of the encoder strip requires a fairly extensive disassembly of the printer. Before you even consider this repair you need to make sure that the encoder strip is not ripped at either end where it would be held in place by......if it is then you will need another encoder strip.

The "plastic strip" is the position encoder of the print head, it holds itself in place by two latches, one is fixed and the other is flexible, you have to put the encoder in the flexible latch first by holding it at an angle and then in the fixed one, probably you'll have to disassemble the MFP to have access and a better view of the parts.
