Why is it building up ice on three coils?

Hi, for your air conditioner you'll have refrigerant coming from the compressor (cold) to the coils - when it leaves those coils - the refrigerant has basically absorbed that heat - and it's on its way out to the evaporator - sometimes the other set of lines actually gets hot. If you have ice on your coils - could you check your fan and make sure it's operating correctly. The absolute only thing keeping those coils from icing up is the fan drawing air over the coils - no air/not enough air flow - it doesn't function properly and your coils will ice up.

Coil icing up

make sure the filter is very clean. make sure all supply grills are unblocked and open. make sure the indoor fan is blowing. icing coil is normal during heating mode the system will defrost using a sensor. sometimes during cold wet weather the coil will stay iced up. sometimes in cooling mode when it is cool outside 60 degrees or less the coil will ice. low freon will make the coil ice up ,also defrost control not working will cause the coil to ice up

Air is not blowing cold ice on coils

Air conditioning is all about the proper airflow across the condenser and evaporator coil (coil panel). Be sure your filters are clean and there are not any obstructions such as a dirty condenser coil. Also check all tubing and fitting connections for signs of oil which would indicate a refrigerant leak and has now caused the AC to be insufficiently charged. This would cause ice build-up on the evaporator (coil panel) and the out-put of only 70 degrees.

My Whirlpool Freezer/Refrigerator model# ET19RMXGW02 is not keeping items cold. The ice maker is not working. There is frost in on the back wall of the freezer but objects like ice cream are all soft. ...

your evaporator coil behind this frost on the wall is iced up and you cant blow cold air through solid ice, remove this panel and defrost the coil, then check the defrost heating element below the coil, the defrost thermostat located on the coil or the defrost timer itself for being defective

Amana SCD25tw side by side. Ice cream very soft, freezer blows semi cold air NOT ice cold. refigerator side seemes ok. I checked coil and it is NOT icy.

If the coil is not iced up then it is not a defrost problem but rather if the coils are not completely cold all over then the compressor is failing or the refrigerant has leaked out.

Ice build up on coil inside freezer

it can be two things the refrgerator probably has a small refrigerant leak therefore it ices up, or the defrosting heater on the begining of the coil is faulty.

Ice on the coil fins of my Window AC unit......

set your unit to fan mode only, to thaw the ice, after the ice melts, look at your evaporator coil, see if its dirty, if its dirty, then you might just need a good cleaning. if the coil is clean, look at your thermostat setting. it should not be all the way cold. the compressor would run continously and it would freeze the coil. third, the refrigerant system could be partially clogged up or it lacks refrigerant. these problems initiate freezing of the coil.
