Question about Maytag Dishwashers

1 Answer

By jleejr on Jul 20, 2010" " I have a Maytag Quietseries 300 dishwasher that I bought new in 2004. The buttons on the control panel will not respond. That is, no lights will display when I push the buttons. It has behaved like this in the past and after several weeks of not using it suddenly it will begin working normally again. However, I think this time it has stopped working permanently. The model number is MDBTT79AWW. What do you think could be wrong? I have tried flipping the circuit breaker to reset it but no change. Thank you,\r\n Hi Thanks for using FixYa. It seems to be the control board that has gone bad and should be replaced. Prior to replacing the control board you can take the screws off and then try to blow air with the help of hair dryer, if still it wont work then you’ll have to replace the control board. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance. Thanks Rylee 8/6/2010: I replaced the control board but it is still not working. Some of the lights did come on once when I pushed the heavy wash button. But no other buttons responded including the start/cancel button. I'm sure I installed the control board correctly. I guess it's possible that I got a bad part but I don't know. What do you suggest? Thanks.

I was thinking the same. It will take me a few days to order the part but if it doesn't work, I'll get back to you. By the way, you were right on with my refrigerator problem a few weeks ago. Thanks.

HI. The actual culprit in this situation will be your control panel(Defective Touch-pad circuit board). The panel and touch pad assembly are integrated. They share the same space. There is a small ribbon cable on the rear of the control panel that links the control panel to the main board. This allows for the commands to be transferred to the board every time you initiate a washing cycle There is circuit damage at the panel. This is the reason for the interment disruptions you were experiencing previously, before the complete non responsive state of the unit occurred. This circuit damage, essentially, got worse and now the control panel will not responsive at all. With out a fully functioning control panel, this unit will not operate as designed. The necessary actions will be to replace the entire control panel. Due to the fact that the touch pad is integrated into the entire design of the control panel; The entire panel must be replaced.

The part number for your new Panel will be 99002789.

Control Panel Problem on a Maytag DW MDBTT79AWW

I had this same problem, ordered the replacement control panel from whirlpool. The new panel worked for two weeks, then stopped working again. OUCH!
The replacement part costs $264.34 and has no warranty if you do it yourself.
I think I am now going shopping for something other than a Whirlpool or Maytag machine. They have terrible customer service.

Check the Lid switch. Most top load machines will not spin unless the lid is down and this is determined by the lid switch.

Blinking lights, unresponsive

I went to the Maytag site looking for a manual. None existed for my model, but I looked up won't start under the FAQs. The advice said to push the cancel button twice. My model doesn't have one, so I just started at the left side of the control panel and pushed each button twice. pushing the dry button twice made the lights stop blinking. i pushed the wash button and the unit started.
