Green instead of black

G'day all, I have been using my monitor, no problems, then it just started having fine green lines running up and down the screen. Only very noticable when there is ment to be a black screen.... Any ideas?

I am having the same issue with my Acer AL1715 and it only gets worse from there man. I unplugged it for a few days at first and left it off to see if maybe I was just using it to much but when I plugged it back in I got the green lines again within minutes. I tried it on a different PC and I get the same thing so it isn't the Graphics card or anything. Sadly I bought the monitor a while back so I can't do anything about it except search online and hope to find an answer. I also tried different cords to see if the one I was using was defective at all but nothing works.

Hello,
According to what you both have described in your scenarios, I am sorry to say that your monitors are going bad. When you take a known good monitor and plug it into your computer systems and everything is working normally, it is not your graphics card. If your graphics card was going bad it would not matter what monitor you connected your system to, the results would be the same. You can try adjusting your color and tint, vertical and horizontal if you would like, but I doubt it would make any difference. You both need to replace your monitors. It is not really worth fixing unless you have an lcd monitor or something expensive, but this is not the case. I am sorry to give you the bad news. I hope this has helped you in some way. You can see this exact same scenario in my tip, under my profile.

If you would not mind, would you please rate my help. I would really appreciate it.

The fault is a back-light problem and the fault could be a faulty inverter board or a faulty CCFL lamp.

Solid line completly across screen, monitor is brand new

Your comp's video card refresh rate (in Hertz, abbreviated Hz) may not be totally compatible with the monitor. Check the properties of your video card, and change the refresh rate (you may have to look around for it) to 60 Hz. This is a pretty standard refresh rate that works with just about every monitor. If it's already there, I'm afraid someone else will have to try and help!

Hope this helps, and please rate my answer, good OR bad.

Good luck!

sounds like your monitor cable is either bad or has a bent or missing pin on the connector.

Did you know any subtle changes in monitor performance before you had this problem. Maybe a flicker or lines running down the screen?

Screen black

Bill, It could be your LCD backlight giving you problems. With the computer on and the monitor power LED green shine a flashlight in the lower left hand corner of your screen. Look for the ?Start? button, if your backlight is not working you?ll see a faint ?start? button if you look closely. Depending on the monitor this is usually and economically repairable problem.
