The HDD of my Acer Aspire 5102WLMi got broken. I bought a new one, partitoned it, load the D: drive with Acer stuff from backup, mounted it in the laptop and started this with the recovery CD. This...

@hellepie

The HDD interface on this machine is a PATA so BIOS shows the correct interface as IDE 0. Upon loading up the recovery disc (I'm assuming it's a good condition genuine Acer recovery media), what it does is that it re-images the HDD to the default file system and automatically occupies the full partition of the HDD so if you have already re-partition it, the problem might lie right there. Try to do the following:

1. Erase all partition on the new HDD that you have purchased and format it with NTFS and try to load the Acer recovery discs again.
2. If that won't work, try to use a retail copy of Windows and check if it fully install Windows. If it does, try to create a duplicate copy of your Acer recovery discs, it might just be faulty and try again.

Good Luck.

It sounds like the HDD controller may be bad. When you thought it was the OS having a problem it sounds like the controller was going out.Unless the HDD you were connecting to it was bad.

2.5'' external fell down

Sorry, but if your hard disk fell down and now isn't regognized by the computer the most possible situation is that the disk is destroyed.

My computer doesn't regognize my Medion HDdrive any more.

what kinda hdd is this?? is a usb external or an internal one ??
anyway if it is a usb ..just try to change the port in which you plugged it .. it might just get into a 1.0 port and it needs a 2.0 ..
after that if it is not seen ..just go to control panel and run the add new hardware wizard ..///check already added..and let the windows scan for it ...it will see and install it ...be sure it is powered if it needs a power supply ..
if it is an internal one ..and you have a system on another one ...and it is a sata hdd..just install the raid drivers from the mother board drivers cd ...
to be sure you are missing it ..right click on the my computer ..properties...hardware and device manager ...in here you will see the raid controller in yellow if this is the case...

First set your harddisk as master which has operating system.
And set slave as your new added hdd.
You can ser master and slave with jumper settings.
Read diagram on HDD.
Then check .
Also check in bios that your first boot device is your hdd which has os.
Let me know if you need more assistanse.
Thanks.

WindowsXP not loading after installing Windows Vista Demo Version

You need to get rid of the Vista Demo, and reload xp. You need to keep one or the other I think, you can't keep both operating systems on the same drive. What were you thinking?
Did you install the vista demo as a dual boot setup? Doesn't sound like it.
I hope someone can help you, I can't.

98 loading error message

When you format something you WILL lose all of the data that was there. I would also recomend upgradeing to XP, 2000, or NT. You may need to reinstall the OS. If you need instructions ask me and I can help.
