Question about E-Mu 1616M Sound Card

Doesn't Recognize Card on Start Up/Out of Stand-By

I've had this sound card for over a year. I had it originally on system my brother built and now on a dual core HP. The same problem has occurred on both systems running under XP Pro/Home Edition and Media Center. Everything will be running great and then it mysteriously "disappears" from the system.I have to unplug everything to include reseating the card before everything returns to normal. It's a huge pain! I have the most recent drivers and have tried using different PCI slots as well. Also, media player will not play a file one night and then not recognoze it the next. What's up????

I have a similar issue with my 1212m where it doesn't work after standby mode (onboard sound doesn't have this issue) and only a reboot fixes it (with Vista). The 1616m I have seems to lock up the computer in standby on two laptops (one Vista one XP). I don't think this issue has always been a problem, maybe it's a bug in the latest drivers.

I have experienced this problem too. I have traced it to my Webroot Firewall. During normal operation a firewall warning appeared and asked me to either accept and deny a particular process. If I am not sure about the process I usually deny it. Well, it turns out that a process I denied ended up producing the problem you have. I am not saying that this is your problem but you might try to completely exit your firewall and anti-virus software and see if the sound card returns to normal.

I have a Dell Dimension 4600, will a PCI Express sound card work in place of the original Sound Blaster 5.1 sound card

Well, the short answer to your question is "No, it won't work". The Dell Dimension 4600 does not have any PCI Express slots in it, therefore you can't install it, and therefore it won't work. But, if you installed a PCI sound card, it would work. The BIOS would recognize the add-on sound card, disable the onboard sound, and your sound will start going through the expansion card instead. Hope this helps.

I have no sound on my computer

Hey Pekka,1989 did your motherboard supported the sound card that you bought?...if not supported to your motherboard, you must install the cd driver of your sound card..

and to you, hellojollyji, and kauntey?...is that also a sound card?..or a built in soundcard?....if buit-in sound, right click the "my computer" and go to "properties", then click the "hardware", then click the "device manager", in that case, you will all components of your motherboard, find the "sound devices", then if you saw a "yellow question mark", that means, you didn't install the driver of your sound..BUT, but if there's no "yellow question mark"in that device...follow this instructions, have you see the digital clock at the right bottom of you PC?...have you seen the "speaker logo",right click, and click the "open volume control", click the file at the left top of the dialog box, then go to properties..you must see the title "mixer device", what is your sound type?.."realtek or AC97?...

Sound card has become inoperable since I loaded on the IKmultimedia software

Hi,

It seems your system complicates soundcard's driver version and patches. To eliminate problem that causes inoparable one at a time; please consider to uninstall software sound applications and drivers. Remove any secondary or external sound cards and enable the built-in sound card at the BIOS. Now, start the system in Safe Mode try to remove the existing soundcard drivers at control panel sound card properties. Restart the system, well try to prove that the built-in sound card still working by reinstalling it. By then you can disable it again and install your secondary or external sound card. Hope it will work this time, else you'll need to clean up your Operating System astrays dll's using registry cleaners third party software. I met this problem before that my only recouse is by reformatting the system.

Emu1616m/ acid pro 5 sync problem I have used the Emu 1616m(soundcard) with acid pro 5 on a Sony Vaio Laptop(windows XP) for over a year. I have periodically taken out the soundcard following the simple remove hardware procedure, everytime working properly when loading it back up. The most recent time putting the card back in and turning on the laptop, all the ports were gone. What I mean by ports is all my inputs, micline inputs, Aux In, 1L1R, ect, ect...everything i would normally use to plug in my speakers, mixer, keyboard, mic, ect ect.... Gone....what i Mean is: when i pressed record on Acid Pro 5, a window would pop up showing me the feedback, and record device, when pressing the down arrow on the record device there would normally be a long list of all the inputs available on the emu 1616m. This is my problem, the inputs and all are gone and no matter what i do i can' t get them back. I tried the obvious stuff, going into the sound audio devices on the pc, going into the preferences on acid. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, i might have messed up the ASIO on the pc, but thought i had it back to how it was. I even tried restoring back to an original date, and know i can't even bring up the patchmix dsp application, it say's i got a missing/corrupt (skin) and may need to re-install. At first I thought this would be a simple fix, I'm sure it is but now its beyond my ability to get things back to the way they were. I record daily as independent artist, and unfortunately rely on this equipment, can somebody please help, it would be much appreciated. Thankyou Sincerely Cory Green
