You mentioned that you have Windows XP SP1... You need to install at least SP2 or even SP3 for this adapter to work. If this computer doesn't have internet access at all, then you can usually get SP2 or SP3 on a disc for free from Microsoft.

first try to check if your wireless can actually detect a network, if it can try to remove ALLthe network that you have on your wireless network and try to add your network again, if still doest work try to uninstall and re install your wireless driver, if it still doesnt work try to restart your router, if still doesnt work try to do system restore to the point where your wireless was workin fine, lastly if still doesnt work try to contact your ISP for some configuration.

I think the adapter might be using it's own utility.
You can switch over to windows utility.
check what message do you get while connecting to the network .

XP SP3 doesnt allow driver to get loaded

not a problem in xp sp3 under the device manager in system properties you will have a yellow circle and black exclamation mark and probably say unknown device or ethernet device. right click go to properties and in details tab you will see Device ID.. we can track OEM driver from this.

I have a HP Compaq NC6000 laptop. Cannot get the 2200 BG wireless card to detect a wireless network even though one is available. It says it is installed and working properly. Any suggestions?

These are very flaky wireless adapters make sure you have the hp 2200 bg wireless drivers setup correctly.

They will appear as working correctly in device manager but do have connectivity problems.

Also make sure that wireless zero config service is started.

Another method would be to connect and setup through Intel proset utility

Cannot connect my wireless adapter to Belkin wireless router

hi,
ok sir i got it if the wireless network is detected then try and connect and the if it doesnt connect try and connect in safe mode with networking sometimes wireless doesnt work in safe mode, but still try that, uninstall and reinstall the wireless driver for adaptor and then open the gui page(router page with the default gateway page and then change the wireless channels and also turn off the firewall, and from the start, all programme turn on the wireless adaptor utility and then start the services of wireless zero configuration from services.msc.....then if it is connected with the ehternet cable, then what u can do is that go to the router page and then also put a check in the let the windows controll the wireless network......and it will definately work and if it doesnt work then reinstall the operating system......good luck...

Computer cant detect device

Try going to add hardware. Then select yes, the hardware is installed. When it gives you the list of installed devices, go to the bottom and select add new hardware device. After that select the advanced option to select "install the hardware I manually select from a list". On the next page, select network adapters. Then click "have disk" you will now have to put your driver in a folder(usually on the desktop). After you select have disk you will browse for the folder which has the driver. Make sure your driver has a file that has the extension ".inf" as this is needed to install the driver.
Hope this helps

WLAN not detecting

Please make sure that youre wireless adapter is on to begin with. I say this as a precautionary measure cause most of the time, i see many cases at work with this simple mistake done. If there is a hardware swich, make sure it's on. IF Hardware switch is on, make sure wireless connection is enables. This can be checked if you go to Control panel>network conenctions>wireless lan (see if it's shaded or faded grey. That means it is not enabled).

Once you have done this, and it shoes that the wirelss LAN connection is up and running, do what S_n_A_k_E said. Check if the driver for the wireless adapter is having problems and reinstall if necessary. If even that is not the issue, then make sure that you havent accidentally MAC locked your notebook out of the network (yes, i've seen this happen before as well :D)

Alternatively, you might wanna check out if you're behind a systen firewall that doesnt allow connectivity or if in a coporate enviroment, make sure that your in your proper VLAN zone. Hope this helps.

Cant get it to work

have you selected the correct form of security eg wpa or wep, it should be wpa with 2 wire i think, and also the type of network, eg shared or open and ensure you have the correct upper or lower case entries.
