Question about Canon PowerShot SX110 IS Digital Camera

1 Answer

The camera goes through a set of batteries after 4-6 pictures. I have tried rechargable batteries, Durecell, Kodak and Rayovac with no luck.

I've been using Olympus 550 UZ camera for over a year now. I am facing problem with the life of battery though. Tried Energizer and Duracel batteries. 10-15photos and the battery is drained down. Is there...

Switch from alkaline batteries to pre-charged Nickel Metal-hydride (NiMH).
My best experience is with these batteries:
#1. RayoVac (pre-charged)
#2. Kodak (pre-charged)
#3 Energizer (rechargeable)

Find them at WalMart or online

"pre-charged" are new technology rechargeable batteries. They are GREAT! They outlast alkaline at least 15 times per charge.

Kodak Z1085 IS - drains battery even when camera is not on

the camera takes 1.5v to operate it
anything less the camera will shut down
recharge batteries are only 1.4v so at full
recharge it won't last long
The best batteries are litheum that have the right
volts and capacity to keep the camera going.
try turning or the camera stablizer setting...
might save your battery power.

The camera we purchased won't take more than 4 0r5 pictures before it says low battery and won't take more pictures. recentlu when we put in new batteries it says low battery.

You did not say what kind of batteries you are using. If they are AA rechargeables they need to be recharged if they havenot neen used for a while. Say if you took 4 or 5 pictures, the batteries died, you charged them but did on use the camera again for several weeks. When you do they will be dead again, that in the nature of rechargables, they lose charge just sitting there. Solution find the Sanyo Enteloop or Rayovac Hybrid brands, these next generation rechargables have a shelf life similar to NiCads.

Charging the battery

your camera can use any variety of batterys-aa recharg-crv3-aa lithium etc-what i would try is a different version of bats before just replacing the camera-cameras tend to develop internal shorts inside which can drain bats down even when not in use-try energizer lithiums as experiment-i get 200-400 pics on a single set-they are not rechargable-if this doesn't slove prob i would upgrade camera-good luck!

Kodak Easy Share DX 4530 won't hold charge any more.

Yes rechargeables need replacing from time to time (after a few hundred charges) or every couple of years.
You can use standard rechargeables but these wont charge on the dock as there is a little switch in the battery bay which the kodak pack presses.
Standard AAs ar'nt recommended for digital cameras but you should get at least a few shots from a new set of alkalines (maybe not if they are cheapo no Alkaline)

There could be another problem with the camera but if you like the camera its probably worth giving a new pack a try.
If I remember rightly (but check as I don't have a 4530 to hand) the battery you want is a KAA2HR and are available on ebay cheaply if you cant find a low cost one locally

If I can be of further help drop me a line

Best of luck

This might be a crazy question

Depends on the amount of use and the amount of turning it on and off. Typically, not very long. The best rechargable batteries I have found for longevity are the Rayovac Hybrid rechargeables. They last a long time and when you buy them, they are already charged and ready to go. I bought my mom a new camera for Christmas and bought her this with the charger.

Kodak Digital Camera CX 4200, battery problems

I checked a number of customer reviews of this camera and while there were a few more than normal complaints, none of the complaints were about short battery life. I would like to comment on the recharging of NiMH batteries. It is not necessary to drain the batteries before recharging a NiMH battery. In fact it should not be done. An uncharged NiMH battery should be charged two to three times before using for the first time. After that, a standard charging is all they need. Draining the batteries may be contributing to your problem. Wal-Mart sells 4 NiMH batteries with a charger for $9.98. It takes 16 hours to recharge. They have another battery/charger combination that sells for $25.00. It takes 30 minutes to recharge. 20 pictures on a set of Alkaline batteries sounds a bit short but maybe not if you leave the display on for extended lengths of time. You should get at least 200 pictures on NiMH batteries. Back to Kodak. If the camera is still under warranty, you should continue with your efforts for them to repair the camera. Most companines do not respond properly to email. I would suggest that you telephone them with your complaint. If that does not produce satisfactory results, write them a letter so that the problem will be documented as occuring before the warrant runs out. Most companies respond better to letters than email. Good Luck and keep bugging Kodak.
