The battery may be dead or shorted out and won't take a charge.

How old is the battery? If it is over 2 or 3 years old, it may be bad.

I have had lots of laptop's in for repair, this is the power connector on the motherboard - it becomes dislodged from the solder point's inside.

If you find a good computer store they will repair the connector (just needs a full stripdown and a blob of solder to make it connect) I charge £25 for this work, but some will advise you need a new motherboard and charge well over the odds for just a blob of solder.

Good luck with finding a good computer engineer (or someone that is good at soldering)

My laptop not charging

When you say it won't charge, does it charge at all?
1. It indicates that it is charging, but as soon as you unplug the charger the battery quickly or immediately indicates it is dead. If the laptop is off, the LED on the laptop shows it is charging but the battery is always dead,

Or: 2. It is as if you didn't have the charger plugged in. No light on the laptop at all when the charger is plugged in.

Possible solutions:
1. The battery has died and is no longer capable of taking a charge. An alternate explanation if you can't even get the laptop to turn on even though the laptop charge LED is on, is that the internal power supply that converts the incoming and battery voltage to all the voltages required has died.
Or: 2. The power connector inside the laptop is a common failure point. The solder joints break from various minor shocks over time. This is going to become more common with lead-free solder as it is more brittle. Less likely is that the charging circuit inside the laptop has failed.

Targus charger wont charge laptop when laptop on?

The laptop does not recognize the charger due to a different wattage/ amperage or is not powerful enough to charge the laptop while the machine is powered. I have seen many problems with hps/compaqs and the Targus Universal Charger and recommend the HP universal charger for those models instead.

Computer wont charge with universal charger

Please check the technical specifications of your computer charger and see that your universal charger fulfills the same. Generally it is found that the universal charge may supply the required voltage but may not provide the required amperage. That is the reason most of the electronic companies insist on their chargers. If your charger is not working please get one from the company rather than using the universal charger and the spoiling your computer. Universal chargers are OK for some of the electronic devices which do not require higher currents.

Laptop will not charge..

First of all, it could definitely be something with the battery. Batteries have a finite life-time, and yours might had reached it's end...

Anyway, chargers for laptops are quite "unique" for each brand, sometime even for each model. There's a chance that by your "trial and error" you might even caused more damage... :/ You should CAREFULLY take a look on what your laptop consumes, in terms of VOLTAGE and CURRENT. Connecting incompatible charger (even if it's plug fits perfectly) might (and often will) damage your battery and/or the motherboard.

With that said, try replace the battery (if you can try it without buying a new one - better), then use your ORIGINAL charger. Of that doesn't work - use a replacement branded charger. If that doesn't work either - you might need to check it the laptop still works.

Good luck!

Computer wont charge. Plugged up and still wont charge. Is it internal, battery or charger?

I'm not asking if the computer will charge, I'm asking if when you have it plugged in does the computer operate normally. You should be able to take the battery out of a laptop and plug in the computer in and the computer should still operate.
