Question about Coleman Powermate Powermate 5000W Generator
Hi, this sounds like a carbruetta problem. Back fires are caused when too much fuel is being injected and igniting in the exaust maniflod. Also check and clean your air and fuel filters.

There is a fuel mixture screw located on the bottom of it's carburetor. Looking from the top of the carburetor, turn it counter clockwise just one quarter of a turn. If that helps but doesn't stop it, tweek it a little more until the searching stops. If nothing helps, it is gummed up from bad fuel and needs to be disassembled and thoroughly cleaned.
