Blackberry is frozen and will not reboot with either alt+caps+del or battery pull

1-Give the Blackberry at least 1 minute without pressing any buttons or selecting any applications. Give it a chance to catch up and make sure it's actually "frozen".

2-Give the Blackberry at least 1 minute without pressing any buttons or selecting any applications. Give it a chance to catch up and make sure it's actually "frozen".

3-If the Blackberry is not "soft frozen" then it is in fact "hard frozen", which is generally where your smart phone will remain until you reboot it. To reboot open the battery door on the back of the Blackberry and simply remove the battery completely. Allow the Blackberry to sit without a battery inserted for at least 30 seconds.

4-Put the battery back into the Blackberry smart phone. It will take anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes to completely power up and become ready for use again. Your frozen Blackberry problems are now solved!

JUM Error 517

Hi,

The actual error is JVM Error 517. It means the file system on your blackberry is corrupt.

To correct this, follow the steps outlined below:
1. If not already installed, download BlackBerry Device Software and BlackBerry Desktop Manager from the wireless service provider web site.
2. Install BlackBerry Desktop Manager and then install the BlackBerry Device Software.
3. Use Application Loader to reload the software on the BlackBerry device.

Good luck and thanks for using fixya!

My blackberry isnt accepting my media card

i had trouble with mine. i put a 2 gig card it. it should accept it but to actually access it you need the stand alone roxio media manager which you should be able to get right from the blackberry site. it's the only way i could access it with my computer. you also need to go into your options... settings should be ON , NONE, ON and YES.

I have a unlocked blackberry storm and att sims card is coming up invalid

To determine if your BlackBerry is "unlocked" for use on carriers other than for which it is branded:
1. On your BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced Options > Sim Card.
2. At that screen type MEPD (see note below) on your keyboard. A new menu will pop up.
  • If your BlackBerry has a SureType keyboard (71xx and 81xx devices) you will need to double-tap the P, so the actual keys entered become M E P P D.
3. Look for Network in the list.
4. If your device is "unlocked", it should say Disabled or Inactive. If it says Active, it's still locked to that carrier.

Cant get main page to come up

Turn off Content Protection before manually erasing all data and applications from the BlackBerry smartphone, in order to avoid triggering the scrubbing process:

1). On the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, go to Options > Security Options.
2). Under General Settings, go to Content Protection.
3). If Content Protection shows as "enabled," click the trackwheel of the BlackBerry smartphone and select Change Option to turn off, or "disable," Content Protection.
4). Click the trackwheel again to save and close.
Once scrubbing has been triggered, there is no way of stopping it. The process must be fully completed before the BlackBerry smartphone may be used. Removing and reinserting the battery of the BlackBerry smartphone will only start the scrubbing process again from the beginning.
The duration of the scrubbing process depends on factors such as the actual processor speed of the BlackBerry smartphone, the amount of memory that it has, and the actual memory speed.

How do i reset blackberry curve 8330 to factory settings

are you actually going to the menu button and selecting close on each screen or just hitting end or the return button to get to the home screen? If you don't actually select close in the menu screen some progams remain open. go into all applications when there press the menu key and scroll down to close this should help

Ipod

RIM is currently working up a new application for BlackBerry smartphones that will "transfer your desktop iTunes music files" to your BB for those rare moments when you can actually kick back and enjoy the soothing sounds of Rogue Wave. Interestingly, we're not told whether BlackBerry Media Sync is being crafted specifically for the upcoming Bold, and we're also left to wonder when it'll actually be released. Patience is a virtue -- at least that's the word heard through the grapevine.
