Look for a file called Cineplayer* plus the extention .ax this is your codec, simply search for ALL files containing those letters.. Cineplayer*
And save them to a disc usb whatever. now if you ever need to put them back, you will be able to do so, ensure you note down the path where they were originally stored now. so you can copy paste them back, if ever required. Once you do, you would have to Register them... with regsvr32.
However if you keep all your documentation from where you obtained it, you would no doubt be able to download another one.

I have installed a blue ray writer into mu desktop pc an windows can;t read blueray disks

Hi

You don't say which version of windows you're using or whether the bluray disks you are testing are factory made or created by you.

Playing back any video recorded on media like CDs DVDs or Blu Ray discs requires a video decoder (a program such as PowerDVD or Win DVD). Windows alone cannot do the job.

Burning Bluray disks requires both special blu ray discs and burning software such as Nero. Windows alone cannot do the job

Your Sony Bluray RW should have come with (a) CD(s) to install the Blu ray versions of a Video Decoder and burning softwares and also possibly some Sony programs too.

Install these and then you should be able to watch and burn bluray discs to your heart's content.

Hope this helps.

I have a DVD RW but cannot play back DVD/CD

If there was a CD-ROM of software provided with your hardware, install the "DVD-player" software that is on that CD.

Or, see: http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/cineplayer/decoder/overview.html

for a commercial add-on to Windows Media Player, that will decode the DVD, and play it.

Toshiba dvd rom sd r6012 isn't reading the DVDs

Try some factory CD and DVDs and just try to get them to open in Windows (not play in a media player program). If you get errors on every disc you try, it may be your CD/DVD hardware packing in.

If it reads some CDs or DVDs and not others, particularly media discs, you may be having software driver problems, otherwise, it is likely hardware.

Try inserting the disc and spinning it up while resting the laptop on its side, or even upside down. If it reads sideways or upside down, the CD/DVD reader hardware has gone and cannot probably be prepared (this is a symptom of physical controller failure and is ot fixable by normal means).

Good luck...
