My Compaq 5240 desktop will not boot from my hard drive. The first thing on the screen on rfeboot is two choices, PF1 to boot or PF10. I can not access my bois. I tried to reinstall my factory recovery disk but when it tried to reboot after the installation disk finished, it would not read the hard drive.

Compaq cq 60 615dx hard drive problems

We need more information about your problem to properly diagnose it. Boot up your PC, then press F1 when you reach the boot screen. Under "Boot Devices" you should have a hard drive listed. If not, your hard drive needs to be replaced. If you do see the hard drive listed, you need to reinstall an operating system.

My laptop wont boot. It makes a loud whirring

take whatever CD you have out of the CD/DVD drive. You might have the boot order set to CD first. If that's the case, it's trying to boot from your CD drive instead of your hard drive.

My laptop wont boot from the hard drive

See if you can boot from a cd.  If you can, then most likely the hard drive crashed.  Replace it

Replaced hard drive now computer wont boot

If you have a restore CD/DVD that came with your Toshiba, you may have to use it to reformat your hard drive and do a fresh installation. You may have a bad sector or cluster and the boot file is located on it. Try this and check the bios for the setting of your hard disk too. Try starting the system on safe mode by pressing F8 at boot time.

My computer wont boot because it wont automatically detect my har

Usually when your BIO's doesn't detect the hard drives is usually a good indicator that the hard drive has failed. In rare instants it is the motherboard. In the boot sequence it will only show the hard drives it sees if it doesn't see any then none will be shown. I would start with a new hard drive.

Hope this helps.

Hard Drive won't boot Windows

yes.. because the booting information and booting files are sored only in active primary partition of a hard drive. i.e primary drive. if you remove the primary it wont recognize the OS with out booting information. you should need to reinstall OS.
