Question about SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 Player

Missing songs after uploading?

I've had my SanDisk Sansa e260 4gb MP3 player since around Christmas of 2007. Only one or two glitches have happened to it, such as freezing, which was easily resolved.

Now, recently, I've added new songs and when I disconnected the player and waited for it to 'refresh database', the songs wouldn't show up. I've read that if I ran the recovery tool, it might work. Will I be able to put the music back onto my computer, format my MP3 player, and put everything back on?

Hi,love to help out, but can not know exactly what happened to the mp3 player before it went off, so am going to give you steps to troubleshoot your mp3 player..

Power Problems

Try recharging the battery if the MP3 player is not turning on. To recharge the battery, connect one end of the USB cable to the USB port on the MP3 player and the other end to an open USB port on your computer. The Sandisk MP3 player will begin charging.
Try turning the player back on. If it does not turn on, perform a reset. To do this, press and hold the "Power/Menu" button for at least 15 seconds.

Turn the player back on.


Press the "Menu" button if the player keeps turning off periodically. Select the "Settings" option in the Menu and select "Power."


Select "Auto Power Off" and turn off the sleep settings.
Play and Display Problems


Connect your Sandisk to the computer. The computer will automatically recognize it as a new device.


Double-click "My Computer" on the desktop. You will see your MP3 player's icon listed as a removal disk together with other removal devices.


Double-click the MP3 player's icon. Double-click the "Music" folder. You will see all the songs uploaded on your player. Right-click the music file that is not playing and click "Properties." In the "Properties" window, you should see which format the music file is in. If it is not an MP3, WMA or WAV, it will not play. Only upload music files of these formats.

Right-click a music file that displays "Unknown artist/album" and click "Properties." Click the "Summary" tab and click "Advanced." Input the data you want, such as the song title, album, artist and year. Click "OK" to save the changes.

I am not able to see the songs when I upload my MP3 with the computer, and it's occupying nearly 560MB space


Please use the software required to upload the files as the sansa will not recognise the normal mode music files unless they are compresssed to the requirement of the ipod.

I can not upload any music-help


Use Windows Media Player to transfer songs to your device. Make sure the songs are in the right format for your Sansa e200. iTunes, for instance, won't work with the Sansa e200 series.

Sansa MP3 player.


There are only two things I can think that would cause this:
(1) The players file allocation table has been corrupted. The solution to this is refomat the drive and reupload the music.
(2) That the software that you are using has changed the format. This happened when I installed ITunes. It converted the music all to another format. If this is the case, copy the other player back to your drive and then upload the music back from that player.

Yes, unfortunetly that does happen a lot! Sometimes the songs do not get transferred very well. Its usually a glitch sometimes in the programming. I usually try to download the same song again.

Sansa e260 - Stuck on "Refresh Database" after uploading music


Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Very new to this-got iPod, can I put songs on SanDisk?


I bought a sandisk and it came with best buy stuff loaded. Well best buy stuff expired and i have a lot of memory tied uop with it. I want to totaly reformat and remove all related stuff to best buy so I can start from scratch
